Ethnikos Assia
Ethnikos Assia Football Club ( el, Εθνικός 'Ασσιας) is a Cypriot football team currently playing in the Cypriot Second Division. The team was established in Assia, Famagusta, but since the Turkish invasion of 1974, Ethnikos became a refugee team. The club is now based in the capital Nicosia and play their home games at the Makario. The club has played three times in the first division, the last time was during the 2001–02 season. Makario Stadium
Makario Stadium ( el, Μακάρειο Στάδιο), is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It was the largest and main sports venue of the capital up to the construction of the GSP stadium in 1999. At present it is mostly used for football matches and is the home ground of Digenis Morphou, and Ethnikos Assia. The stadium holds 15,590 seated spectators. The playing field is surrounded by a running track and can be adapted to hold most track and field events. Apart from corporate boxes and the press centre, there are no coverings for spectators. It is built in the Nicosia suburb of Makedonitissa, close to the grounds of the Cyprus State Fair, with which it shares a large car park. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. Asha, Cyprus
Asha ( el, Άσσια []; tr, Paşaköy), also transliterated Assia, is a village in the Famagusta District of Cyprus, located 6 km northwest of Vatili. It is under the ''de facto'' control of Northern Cyprus. History Asha is located in the center of the Mesaoria valley. The village was recorded as early as the early 13th century in papal documents. Before 1974, the population of Asha was approximately 2,700. The village consisted of two parishes, St. John's and St. George's. The village had five churches: St. George, St. John Prodromos, St. Theodore, St. Spyridon and Virgin Mary. St. Spyridon was born in Asha and the church was built by Michael Kassialos, a folk artist from Asha. Asha was also well known for the craftsmanship of the embroidery made there. Famagusta District ( gr, Επαρχία Αμμοχώστου, Eparchia Ammochostu; tr, Mağusa kazası) is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its main town is the island's most important port, Famagusta. Turkish Invasion Of Cyprus
The Turkish invasion of Cyprus began on 20 July 1974 and progressed in two phases over the following month. Taking place upon a background of Cypriot intercommunal violence, intercommunal violence between Greek Cypriots, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, and in response to a 1974 Cypriot coup d'état, Greek junta-sponsored Cypriot coup d'état five days earlier, it led to the Turkish Military occupation, capture and occupation of the Northern Cyprus, northern part of the island. Cypriot First Division
The Cypriot First Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Α΄ Κατηγορίας) is the top tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Since February 2016, it is sponsored by Cyta and is thus officially known as the Cyta Championship. The league is contested by 14 teams and runs from August to May, with the three lowest-placed teams being relegated to the Cypriot Second Division, and replaced by the top three teams in that division. The Cypriot Third Division (Greek: Πρωτάθλημα Γ΄ Κατηγορίας) is the third tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league are promoted to the Cypriot Second Division, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to the STOK Elite Division. Cypriot Cup For Lower Divisions
The Cypriot Cup for lower divisions is a domestic cup for the teams who participate in the Cypriot Third Division and in the STOK Elite Division (ex Fourth Division). Format It was created in the 2008–09 season by Cyprus Football Association. Participation in this cup is not compulsory, so the number of the clubs that participate is different each year. The competition is a knockout tournament. The matches in the first two rounds are single-legged and the matches in quarterfinals and semifinals are two-legged. 2010–11 Cypriot Cup For Lower Divisions
The 2010–11 Cypriot Cup for lower divisions was the 3rd edition of the Cypriot Cup for lower divisions. A total of 24 clubs entered the competition. It began on 27 October 2010 with the first round and concluded on 30 March 2011 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. Ethnikos Assia won their 1st cup trophy after beating ENAD Polis Chrysochous 1–0 in the final. Format Only teams from the Cypriot Third Division and Cypriot Fourth Division could participate. Participation was not compulsory. 24 of 28 participated that season. The competition consisted of five rounds. In the first and in the second round each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results.
