Estonian Safety Investigation Bureau
Estonian Safety Investigation Bureau (ESIB; et, Ohutusjuurdluse Keskus or OJK) is the transport safety agency of Estonia, headquartered in Tallinn. It is under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. It investigates aviation, maritime, and rail accidents. It was established on 1 January 2012 by the merger of several accident investigation units. Previously aviation accidents were investigated by the ministry's Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission (lennuõnnetuse põhjuste uurimiskomisjoni). The Estonian Civil Aviation Administration ( et, Lennuamet) was the civil aviation authority of Estonia, working in the jurisdiction of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and exercising civil aviation state inspection and supervising over the implementation of national laws and regulations. The Estonian Maritime Administration ( et, Veeteede Amet) was a governmental agency that operated within the area of government of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
