Estonian Council of Churches (ECC; et, Eesti Kirikute Nõukogu) is an Estonian organisation which unites and promotes co-operation between Christian churches and congregations in Estonia. ECC president is Andres Põder. ECC is an associate member of Conference of European Churches. Estonia
Estonia, formally the Republic of Estonia, is a country by the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe. It is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland across from Finland, to the west by the sea across from Sweden, to the south by Latvia, and to the east by Lake Peipus and Russia. Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. A church (or local church) is a religious organization or congregation that meets in a particular location. Andres Põder
Andres Põder (born 22 November 1949) is an Estonian clergyman, bishop emeritus and the former archbishop of Tallinn and primate of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Estonia (EELK) from 2005–2014. Põder is the current president of Estonian Council of Churches since 2013. Biography Põder was born on 22 November 1949 in Haapsalu. He was ordained priest on 19 September 1976 and served as pastor in Kunda, Viru-Nigula Parish. In 1979 he transferred to Kõpu and in 1983 congregations in Räpina Räpina ( vro, Räpinä, german: Rappin) is a town in Põlva County, Estonia. Conference Of European Churches
The Conference of European Churches (CEC) was founded in 1959 to promote reconciliation, dialogue and friendship between the churches of Europe at a time of growing Cold War political tensions and divisions. In its commitment to Europe as a whole the Conference seeks to help the European churches to renew their spiritual life, to strengthen their common witness and service and to promote the unity of the Church and peace in the world. The CEC is a fellowship of some 114 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican, and Old Catholic Churches from all countries of Europe, plus 40 National Council of Churches and Organisations in Partnership. The CEC was founded in 1959 and has offices in Brussels and Strasbourg. Assemblies CEC assemblies take place once every five years. The Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church (EELC; Estonian: ''Eesti Evangeelne Luterlik Kirik'', abbreviated EELK) is a Lutheran church in Estonia. EELC is member of the Lutheran World Federation and belongs to the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe. It is also a member of the Porvoo Communion, putting it in full communion with the Church of England and other Anglican churches in Europe. Estonian Methodist Church
Estonian Methodist Church (formerly also United Methodist Church in Estonia; et, Eesti Metodisti Kirik) is a Methodist church organisation in Estonia. Until 1 July 2023, when it severed its ties to the United Methodist Church, it belonged regionally to the Northern Europe and Eurasia Central Conference of the United Methodist Church and to the United Methodist Church Nordic and Baltic Episcopal Area. On the world level it is a member of the World Methodist Council. Currently it has 26 congregations. It operates a theological seminary in Tallinn and a number of other ministries. Its official publication is the magazine ''Koduteel''. According to the 2011 census there were 1,098 Methodists in Estonia.
