Estadio Israel Barrios
The Estadio Israel Barrios is a football stadium in Coatepeque, Guatemala. It was inaugurated on January 30, 2011. Its construction started in 2009, with funding from local entrepreneur Israel Barrios (after whom the stadium is named), who aims to finish the project in coming years. The venue is currently the home of football club Deportivo Coatepeque, who compete in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala in the Guatemalan football league system. During 2011 it has been planned for the stadium to host games of the Guatemala national football team, upon approval of the venue by FIFA. Coatepeque () also known as Village of gardenias is a town and Municipalities of Guatemala, municipality in the Quetzaltenango Department, Quetzaltenango department of Guatemala. El Deportivo Coatepeque, is a Guatemalan football club based in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango Department. They compete in the Liga Nacional, the top tier of Guatemalan football. ''Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala'' (National Football League of Guatemala), formerly known as Liga Mayor "A" (Major League "A") is a professional football division in Guatemala, the highest one in the country. Guatemala National Football Team
The Guatemala national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Guatemala) represents Guatemala in men's international football and is controlled by the ''Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala''. Founded in 1919, it has been affiliated to FIFA since 1946, and it is a member of CONCACAF. The team has made three Olympic tournament appearances, competing at the 1968, 1976, and 1988 Olympic Games. Guatemala have never qualified for the finals tournament of the World Cup, although they have reached the final round of qualification on four occasions. Guatemala won the 1967 CONCACAF Championship and the 2001 UNCAF Nations Cup. The team's best performance in a CONCACAF Gold Cup was in 1996, when they finished fourth.
