Esporte Clube Poções, commonly known as Poções, is a Brazilian football club from Poções, Bahia state. They competed in the Série C and in the Copa do Brasil once. History The club was founded on July 22, 1985. They won the Campeonato Baiano Second Level in 1993. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C. The Copa do Brasil ( en, Brazil Cup) is a knockout football competition played by 92 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Scottish Cup and Copa Argentina. The Copa do Brasil is an opportunity for teams from smaller states to play against the big teams. The winner of the cup automatically qualifies for the following edition of the Copa Libertadores de América, the most prestigious continental football tournament contested by top clubs in South America organized by CONMEBOL. Campeonato Baiano (lower Levels)
The Campeonato Baiano Second Division are the second tier level of the football tournaments for the Bahia state league. The competitions are organized by the Bahia Football Federation. Usually, the champions of a division are promoted in the next year to the immediately upper level. History The Second Level of the Bahia State Championship is competed since 1922, and was not held from 1924 to 1934, in 1938, from 1942 to 1964, in 1966, in 1969, in 1970, from 1972 to 1974, from 1976 to 1980 and in 2005. Competition format The 2020 Second Level was competed by six clubs which played against each other twice. The two best placed clubs qualified to the final. 2000 Copa Do Brasil
The Copa do Brasil 2000 was the 12th staging of the Copa do Brasil. The competition started on March 9, 2000, and concluded on July 9, 2000, with the second leg of the final, held at the Mineirão stadium in Belo Horizonte, in which Cruzeiro lifted the trophy for the third time with a 2-1 victory over São Paulo. Oséas, of Cruzeiro, with 10 goals, was the competition's top scorer. Format 69 clubs disputed the competition in a knock-out format where all rounds were played over two legs, and the away goals rule was used, but in the first two rounds if the away team won the first leg with an advantage of at least two goals, the second leg was not played. In 2007, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, the third division of the Brazilian League, was contested by 64 clubs, with the promotion of Bragantino, Bahia (lost Fonte Nova against Vila Nova), Vila Nova-GO, and ABC-RN, to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B to be contested in 2008.
