Erlun Story House
The Erlun Story House () is a historic building in Erlun Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan. History The story house building was originally constructed as the Erlun Police Station in 1899 during the Japanese rule of Taiwan as the first police station in Yunlin, then part of Tainan Prefecture. In 2005, the building was designated as a historical building by Yunlin County Government. It was then reopened as Erlun Story House in 2014 after NT$8.45 million renovation. Yunlin County
Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan. Yunlin County borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Nantou County to the east, Changhua County to the north at the Zhuoshui River, and Chiayi County to the south at the Beigang River. Yunlin is part of the Chianan Plain, a flat land known for its agriculture. Agricultural products of Yunlin County include pomelo, tea leaves, suan cai, papaya and muskmelon. Yunlin's rivers give it potential for hydroelectricity. Douliu is the largest and capital city of Yunlin. It is the only county on the main island of Taiwan where no city with the same name exists. Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Under townships, there is still the village as the fourth or basic level of administration. The Republic of China calendar, often shortened to the ROC calendar or the ''Minguo'' calendar, is a calendar used in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. The calendar uses 1912, the year of the establishment of the Republic of China (ROC), as the first year. Jinjiang, Fujian
Jinjiang () is a county-level city of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China. It is located in the southeastern part of the province, on the right or south bank of the Jin River, across from Quanzhou's urban district of Fengze. Jinjiang also borders the Taiwan Strait of the East China Sea to the south, and Quanzhou's other county-cities of Shishi and Nan'an to the east and west, respectively. It has an area of and a population of 1,986,447 as of 2010. Zhao'an County
Zhao'an () is a county in the municipal region of Zhangzhou, southernmost Fujian province, People's Republic of China. History Qing dynasty to the Republic of China In May 1907, county officials arrested, on suspicion of piracy, the local leaders of a movement called the "White Fan". They escaped, rallied their followers, captured the top mandarin, and killed the sheriff. 30,000 strong, they menaced Chaozhou. The anti-dynastic rebels had been gaining in popular support in the Minnan-speaking south of Fujian since 1906; local government soldiers would not fight them. Qing troops were dispatched from Fuzhou and Guangzhou, capitals of the two affected provinces. Engaging the rebels at the end of the month, they killed 600. Some of the citizens of Zhangzhou fu felt themselves to be in danger, and came down to Xiamen, where the United States Navy gunboat ''Helena'' floated in Xiamen Bay. Fujian
Fujian (; alternately romanized as Fukien or Hokkien) is a province on the southeastern coast of China. Fujian is bordered by Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, Guangdong to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the east. Its capital is Fuzhou, while its largest city by population is Quanzhou, both located near the coast of the Taiwan Strait in the east of the province. While its population is predominantly of Chinese ethnicity, it is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse provinces in China.
