Erling Norvik
Erling Norvik (9 April 1928 – 31 December 1998) was a Norwegian politician from the Conservative Party. Norvik was born in Vadsø, the son of Erling Johannes Norvik, who served in the Norwegian parliament (''Stortinget'') from 1949 to 1961. The younger Norvik started his professional career as a journalist for the regional paper Finnmarken when he was 12 years old and was elected to Stortinget in 1961 from his native county, Finnmark, succeeding his father. Norvik was seated in the legislature for three successive periods, from 1961 to 1973 and then resigned to become the leader of the Conservative Party, a post he held from 1974–1980 and 1984–1986. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". The assembly is led by a president and, since 2009, five vice presidents: the presidium. The members are allocated to twelve standing committees as well as four procedural committees. Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. Many manufacturing facilities are situated here, such as the world's most advanced biorefinery, Borregaard in Sarpsborg. Fredrikstad has shipyards. Erling Johannes Norvik
Erling Johannes Norvik (27 April 1899–27 November 1964) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He was a member of the Norwegian Parliament and was briefly the acting County Governor of Finnmark county from September 1945 until November 1945 at the end of World War II. Personal life He was born to Peder Norvik and Lea Margrethe Hansen on 27 April 1899 in Trondenes in Nordland county, Norway. He was married to Andrea Esbensen. Erling Norvik is their son. Oslo
