Erling Eriksen
Erling Eriksen (January 19, 1878 – 1957) was a Norwegian film director, screenwriter, and film producer. Eriksen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo). He directed his only film, the comedy ''Kjærlighet paa pinde'', in 1922, for which he also wrote the screenplay. In 1925 he produced Harry Ivarson's film '' Fager er lien''. ''Kjærlighet paa pinde: sommerspøk i 4 akter'' (Love on a Stick: A Summer Comedy in Four Acts) is a Norwegian silent film from 1922. The comedian August Schønemann played Alexander Snobmann in his only film role. A bright future had been anticipated for him in silent film, but he died in 1925. Other actors in the film include Ellen Sinding and Conrad Arnesen, and it was directed by Erling Eriksen. The film was Leif Sinding's first work in Norwegian cinematography as a producer. The film can be seen for free at the National Library of Norway website. Plot Alexander Snobman and Philip Helt compete for the favor of the dancer Eva Sommers. One day Snobman meets her in the woods and tries to win her over, but he then has to resort to force. Eva shouts for help, and the engineer Helt comes to rescue her. Harry Ivarson
Harry Ivarson (September 7, 1892 – 1967) was a Norwegian film director and screenwriter. Ivarson was born in Chicago, the son of the actor William Ivarson and actress Anna Ivarson. In addition to Harry, the couple had a son Wictor (born in 1893) and a daughter Borghild (born in 1895). In 1910 the family lived in Årstad. Ivarson studied film in the United States and Germany. He debuted as a director and screenwriter in Germany in 1923 with the film ''Wenn Männer richten'' under the pseudonym Harry Williams. He continued his career in Norway with the films '' Til sæters'' (1924), '' Fager er lien'' (1925), '' Simen Mustrøens besynderlige opplevelser'' (1926), '' Madame besøker Oslo'' (1927), and ''Den glade enke i Trangvik'' (1927), which was his last silent film. Fager Er Lien
''Fager er lien'' (Fair Is the Hillside) is a Norwegian romantic silent film from 1925 directed by Harry Ivarson (his second feature film after his debut with ''Til sæters'' in 1924). Ivarson also wrote the screenplay. The film belongs to the national romantic period of the 1920s. The title is a reference to the thirteenth-century '' Njáls saga''. Before the film was released, six meters of footage showing dancing were edited out. The film is now considered lost. Plot Aase lives with her grandfather in a cabin on a hill. Life seems sad and poor to her. The best thing she knows is to sit at dusk and dream. Aase is fond of Kaare, who works on a large estate nearby.
