Emmy Ma
Emmy Ma (born January 19, 2001) is a Taiwanese-American former competitive figure skater. Representing Chinese Taipei, she is the 2021 International Challenge Cup silver medalist and 2019 Taiwanese national champion. Earlier in her career, representing the United States, she won bronze at 2017 JGP Latvia and placed 19th at the 2018 World Junior Championships. Personal life Emmy Ma was born on January 19, 2001, in Manhasset, New York. She has an older brother, Edward, and older sister, Emily. She plays violin for New England Conservatory's Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. As of 2019, Ma is a student at Boston University. She has spoken about dealing with an eating disorder, citing fellow skaters Gabrielle Daleman and Gracie Gold's openness about their own struggles as a reason to come forward. Gabrielle Daleman
Gabrielle Daleman (born January 13, 1998) is a Canadian figure skater. She is a 2018 Olympic gold medalist in the team event, the 2017 World bronze medalist, 2017 Four Continents silver medalist, 2014 CS Autumn Classic champion, and two-time Canadian national champion. She represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Personal life Gabrielle Daleman was born January 13, 1998, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Rhonda and Michael Daleman. She has a younger brother, Zack, who is also a competitive figure skater. She lives in Newmarket, Ontario and attended Pickering College. Her father has taught at the same school. Short Program (figure Skating)
The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior singles and pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Vocal music with lyrics is allowed for all disciplines since the 2014-2015 season. The short program for single skaters and for pair skaters consists of seven required elements, and there are six required elements for synchronized skaters. 2021 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2021 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Stockholm, Sweden from March 22–28, 2021. Figure skaters competed for the title of world champion in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. The competition was used to determine the entry quotas for each federation at the 2022 World Championships and was the first qualification event for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Stockholm was announced as the host in June 2018. It was the first time that Stockholm had hosted the World Championships since 1947 and the first time that Sweden had hosted since 2008. The World Championships were the only ISU Championship event held during the 2020–21 season, as the European, Four Continents, and World Junior Championships were all cancelled.
