Emilia Müller
Emilia Franziska Müller (born 28 September 1951) is a German chemical technician and politician. A member of the conservative Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU), she has served as a member of the Landtag and as Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Family and Integration in the 2nd Cabinet of Minister-President Horst Seehofer since 2013. She has held a wide range of public positions at the municipal, state, and European Parliamentary level since beginning her political career in 1990. Early life Müller was born in Schwandorf, Bavaria. After becoming a certified chemical technician, Müller began her career in 1972 working in the Max Planck Institute of Cell Chemistry, followed by a period of employment at the Institute of Biochemistry of University of Regensburg. 2013 Bavarian State Election
The 2013 Bavarian state election was held on 15 September 2013 to elect the 180 members of the 17th Landtag of Bavaria. It was held one week before the 2013 German federal election. The CSU regained the absolute majority it had lost in 2008, while the Free Democratic Party (FDP), a member of the outgoing governing coalition, fell below the 5% electoral threshold and lost all its seats. Minister-President Horst Seehofer continued in office. This election was the last election in which a party got an absolute majority in a state parliament until the 2022 Saarland state election. The CSU previously held an absolute majority, and therefore governed alone, from 1966 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2018. 2008 Bavarian State Election
The 2008 Bavarian state election was held on 28 September 2008 to elect the members of the Landtag of Bavaria. The result was a historic defeat for the Christian Social Union in Bavaria, Christian Social Union (CSU), which had governed with a majority uninterrupted since 1962, and had won over 60% of the vote in the 2003 Bavarian state election, 2003 election. Despite polling suggesting that the party would retain its majority with losses, it suffered a 17% swing and came up two seats short of a majority, its worst result since 1954.
