Elli Ruuth
Elli Ruuth (1893 – 1975) was a Finnish furniture architect. She was active in 1924 – 1952. Works Ruuth designed furniture for various state and municipal buildings. According to Architecta, the Finnish association of women architects, her "most brilliant" works were the interiors of the Finnish embassy in Moscow and in Helsinki. Elsa Arokallio
Elsa Arokallio (18 August 1892, Kurkijoki – 3 October 1982, Helsinki) was a Finnish architect. Life She was born in 1892 to Gustaf Arokallio and Elisabeth Parviainen. She graduated in 1910 and obtained her degree in architecture in 1919 from Helsinki University of Technology. She created an architecture firm with her husband, Erkki Väänänen. After four years of marriage he died, and Arokallio ran the firm herself. She also worked for the Ministry of Defence and helped design the barracks in Kauhava which were completed in 1933, and coastal artillery headquarters in Lahdenpohja, which were completed in 1933. In the 1930s she also worked with Elsi Borg. In 1940 Arokallio moved to Viborg where she worked with Martha Martikainen-Ypyä. After World War II she worked in Lahti with architect Könönen and designed single-family houses. Elsi Borg
Elsi Naemi Borg (October 3, 1893 – December 30, 1958) was a Finland, Finnish architect. Life She was born in Nastola and died in Helsinki. She graduated from Helsinki University of Technology in 1919. She designed the infamous children’s hospital Children's Castle in Helsinki and the Taulumäki Church in Jyväskylä. She worked with Olavi Sortta to design the military hospital in Vyborg, Viborg. Her brother was architect Kaarlo Borg. She is also the sister of graphic artist Esther Borg and Parliament member Margit Borg-Sundman. Salme Setälä
Salme Setälä (from 1919–1930 Cornér; 18 January 1894, Helsinki — 6 October 1980, Helsinki) was a Finnish architect and writer. She graduated from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1917. She worked in a number of architecture offices. In the early 1950s she made several study trips in Europe. After that she was hired in the government office for land-use planning. She planned the land use for over 30 areas in Finland. Setälä's main interest was interior design and furniture. She also wrote books, both fiction and non-fiction. Eva Kuhlefelt-Ekelund
Eva Kuhlefelt-Ekelund (5 September 1892, in Loviisa, Finland – 7 August 1984, in Helsinki, Finland) was a pioneering Finnish woman architect and spouse of another famous Finnish architect Hilding Ekelund. Eva Kuhlefelt-Ekelund matriculated from the Helsinki New Swedish secondary school in 1910. After that she studied in Helsinki University of Technology and graduated as an architect in 1916. Later she also received state grant and studied in Stockholm, Sweden between 1919 and 1921. She made study trips to Scandinavian countries as well as to Italy and France. Kuhlefelt-Ekelund also collaborated with another architect Elsi Borg and mapped and documented with her Swedish manors and castles. In year 1920 Eva Kuhlefelt married architect Hilding Ekelund and established her two part surname Kuhlefelt-Ekelund. The couple also founded their own architect office in Helsinki in 1927.
