Elise Thorner
Elise Thorner (born 16 March 2001) is a British track and field athlete. She finished second in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2024 British Athletics Championships and won a bronze medal at the 2024 European Cross Country Championships in the mixed team relay. Early life From Bridgwater, she attended school at Millfield in Somerset. She won gold in the girls' 1500m steeplechase at the School Games National Finals at Loughborough in 2017. She attended New Mexico University and transferred to the University of Florida in 2023. Career In April 2022, she set a new personal best for the 3000m steeplechase, running 9:40:98 in California. On 29 April 2022, she set an English U23 record running 9:32.42 at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford. Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Though the sense of "athletics" as a broader sport is not used in American English, outside of the United States the term ''athletics'' can either be used to mean just its track and field component or the entirety of the sport (adding road racing and cross country) based on context.
