Elering
Elering AS (former name: OÜ Põhivõrk) is a national transmission system operator for electricity and natural gas with headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia. The managing director of Elering is Taavi Veskimägi. History Elering was established on 1 November 1998 under the name of Põhivõrk as an operating unit of the Estonian national power company Eesti Energia. On 1 April 2004, it became a private limited company, OÜ Põhivõrk, as a subsidiary of Eesti Energia. On 10 June 2009, the company changed its name to Elering. To implement the EU 3rd energy package, the Government of Estonia decided on 28 August 2009 to go for an ownership unbundling and to buy out Elering from Eesti Energia. Balticconnector
Balticconnector is a bi-directional natural gas pipeline between Ingå, Finland and Paldiski, Estonia. It connects Estonian and Finnish gas grids. The pipeline provides Finland with access to the Latvian natural gas storage facility at Inčukalns. In addition, the pipeline enables construction of the regional liquefied natural gas terminal. History The project was proposed originally by the Finnish natural gas company Gasum in cooperation with Eesti Gaas of Estonia. After implementation of the EU third energy package, EG Võrguteenus, a former subsidiary of Eesti Gaas, replaced the latter. Estlink
Estlink is a set of HVDC submarine power cables between Estonia and Finland. Estlink 1 is the first interconnection between the Baltic and Nordic electricity markets followed by Estlink 2 in 2014. The main purpose of the Estlink connection is to secure power supply in both regions to integrate the Baltic and Nordic energy markets. Bog Fox
Designer high-voltage pylon Bog Fox (Estonian: ''Soorebane'') is Estonia’s first high-voltage designer pylon, established as the corner pylon of the Harku–Lihula–Sindi high-voltage line in summer 2020. The pylon is located in Risti, Lääne County, Estonia. Estonia's first designer high-voltage pylon was created by Part OÜ architects Sille Pihlak and Siim Tuksam. Bog Fox is 45 metres high at its highest point, weighs 38 tonnes and should last for at least 50 years. The designer pylon is made of COR-TEN steel, which gives the pylon its characteristic rusty hue. The pylon's trunk is 1.66 metres at its thickest point and the wall's maximum thickness is 22 mm. Taavi Veskimägi
Taavi Veskimägi (born 20 November 1974) is a former Estonian state official and politician and the managing director of the Estonian electric power transmission system operator Elering. He is a former Minister of Finance (2003–2005) and one of the two former co-Chairmen of the Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica (2006–2007). Early life and education Taavi Veskimägi was born in the small borough of Eidapere in Rapla County. Following graduation from secondary school 1993 in Rapla, Veskimägi continued his studies in Tallinn University of Technology, but switched in 1994 to Pedagogical University of Tallinn, majoring in public administration. Fingrid
Fingrid Oyj is a Finnish national electricity transmission grid operator. It is owned by the Finnish state (53.1 %) and various financial and insurance institutions (46.9 %). In 2011, power companies Fortum Power and Heat Oy and Pohjolan Voima sold their stakes in Fingrid (25% each), because of EU Internal Market Directive in Electricity, which requires that power production and ownership of the transmission systems should be separate.
