Kenwick was an Electoral districts of Western Australia, electoral district of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1989 to 1996 and again from 2005 to 2008. Both incarnations of the district were based in the south-eastern suburbs of Perth and were safe for the Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor Party. Kenwick, Western Australia is a mixed residential, light industrial and semi-rural suburb located in the south-east of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Gosnells. A large portion of the suburb is composed of remnant agricultural land organized as smallholdings of several acres, as well as relatively pristine native wetlands, including the Brixton Street Wetlands which are of significant conservation value. It also contains several sites of historical significance relating to its status as one of the early farming communities of the Swan River Colony. Kenwick is bounded on the south-west by the Canning River and on the north-west by the Roe Highway. Cannington is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in the inner southern suburbs of Perth. Cannington is a safe Labor seat. Based on the results of the 2005 state election, the district was created with a Labor Party majority of 63.3% to 36.7% versus the Liberal Party. Gosnells is a suburb located within the City of Gosnells. Gosnells is approximately south-east of the Perth central business district. It contains the Gosnells town centre which includes the Council offices, library and the Gosnells Railway Station. History The area where Gosnells is located was used by the Nyoongar Aboriginal people for thousands of years before European settlement. In 1829, when the European settlers arrived in Western Australia, farms were established along the Swan and Canning Rivers, significantly changing the landscape and terrain of Gosnells. East Cannington is a southeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Canning. History East Cannington, previously part of Queens Park Road Board District and once incorporating present day Beckenham, was largely a semi-rural area, with only the area near the railway used for housing. Kalamunda is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Politically, the district is a marginal one. Based on the results of the 2005 state election, the seat was created with a Liberal Party majority of 50.2% to 49.8% versus the Labor Party. History Kalamunda was first created for the 1974 election and abolished ahead of the 1989 election. Despite the name, the seat was actually centred on Greenmount in the eastern Hills region, and Kalamunda itself was split between the Kalamunda seat and the neighbouring Darling Range.
