Electoral District Of Black
Black is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. Black is named after Dorrit Black (Dorothea Foster Black, 1891–1951), a South Australian modern artist, best known for linocuts, oil and watercolour paintings. Black lies south-west of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Darlington, Hallett Cove, Kingston Park, Marino, O'Halloran Hill, Seacliff, Seacliff Park, Seacombe Heights, Seaview Downs, Sheidow Park and Trott Park. At its creation, Black was projected to be notionally held by the Liberal Party with a swing of 2.6% required to lose it. The 2018 creation of Black replaced the electorate of Mitchell that was disestablished at the 2018 state election. David Speirs
David James Speirs (born December 15, 1984) is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2014 state election and leader of the Liberal Party since 19 April 2022. He represented Bright until 2018 and then Black following a redistribution of electoral boundaries. Speirs served as the Minister for Environment and Water in the Marshall Ministry between March 2018 and March 2022. Background and early career Speirs was born in Galloway, Scotland, where he was schooled at Kirkcolm Primary School and Stranraer Academy. He emigrated to Australia with his parents and two younger brothers at the age of 17 in 2002. In 2008 he graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Hallett Cove, South Australia
Hallett Cove is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia located in the City of Marion south of the Adelaide city centre. It has a population of more than 12,000 people. Adjoining suburbs are Marino to the north, Trott Park and Sheidow Park to the east and Lonsdale to the south. The name Kareildung has been mistakenly ascribed to Hallett Cove as an Indigenous name. The Kaurna name of Murrkangga was derived from the meaning of Kareildung and applied specifically to the Amphitheatre in the Hallett Cove Conservation Park. Sites within the conservation park are of great geological and archaeological significance, as well as containing sites of great cultural significance to the Kaurna people, including a significant site on the Tjilbruke Dreaming Track. Electoral District Of Mitchell (South Australia)
Mitchell is a former electoral district of the House of Assembly in the state of South Australia. It was first created in the redistribution of 1969, taking effect at the 1970 election. Mitchell was replaced by Black at the 2018 election, resulting from the 2016 electoral redistribution. Mitchell was named after philosopher Sir William Mitchell. Mitchell was located in inner-south western Adelaide, and covered and encompassed the suburbs of Dover Gardens, Old Reynella, Reynella, Seacombe Gardens, Seacombe Heights, Seaview Downs, Sheidow Park, Sturt and Trott Park and parts of Darlington, O'Halloran Hill, Oaklands Park and Warradale. Trott Park is a suburb in the south of Adelaide, South Australia. It has a population of 3,503 people (2016 Census). It is surrounded in most part by open space: the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park, and Roseworthy Park, a former CSIRO landhold. It is also bordered by Sheidow Park, Hallett Cove and O'Halloran Hill. Seacombe Heights is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It gets its name from Seacombe on the Wirral Cheshire, where many settlers emigrated from. Seacliff Park, South Australia
Seacliff Park is a suburb of Adelaide partly in the City of Marion and the City of Holdfast Bay. The suburb is adjacent to South Brighton in the north, Seaview Downs to the east, Hallett Cove to the south, and Marino and Seacliff on its western side. Seacliff is a coastal suburb located in the capital city of South Australia; Adelaide.
