Einar Aaser
Einar Aaser (1886 – 28 August 1976) was a Norwegian physician and civil servant. He finished his secondary education in 1905, took his cand.med. degree in 1912 and the dr.med. Doctor Medicinae, also spelled Doctor Medicinæ and abbreviated Dr. Med., is a higher doctoral degree (a research doctorate) in medicine awarded by universities in Denmark and formerly in Norway. It is officially translated as Doctor of Medical S ... degree in 1920. He worked as a private physician at Bekkelagshøgda from 1919 to 1928. In 1929 he became the first director of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, serving the rest of his career until 1956. He also chaired the Norwegian Cancer Prevention Society from 1944 to 1945. Examen artium was the name of the academic certification conferred in Denmark and Norway, qualifying the student for admission to university studies. Examen artium was originally introduced as the entrance exam of the University of Copenhagen in 1630. The University of Copenhagen was the only university of Denmark-Norway until The Royal Frederick University in Christiania was founded in 1811. In Norway, examen artium was formally discontinued after the 1982 class (but the term is still sometimes used informally to denote the diploma from today's "videregående skole"). Bekkelagshøgda
Bekkelaget is a neighborhood in the borough Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. Originally, Bekkelaget was the maritime area south of Oslo city, in Aker municipality adjacent to the Bunnefjorden. With the opening of the Østfold Line, Bekkelaget station was opened, and the elevated area between Ekeberg and Nordstrand was built up and more densely populated. This area was called Bekkelagshøgda, while the maritime area became known as Nedre Bekkelaget. This area is separated by Ormsund with Ormøya. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) (Norwegian: ''Folkehelseinstituttet''; FHI) is a Norwegian government agency and research institute, and is Norway's national public health institute. Christian Lerche (23 April 1917 – 9 June 2008) was a Norwegian physician and civil servant. He was born in Kristiania to Jacob Lerche Johansen and Wibecke Christiane Fredrikke Nicolaysen, and was a great-grandson of Jochum Johansen. He was married to Adèle Elisabeth Pihl Stranger from 1946, a daughter of Rolf Stranger. Lerche was director of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health from 1957 to 1984.
