Egyptian Tennis Federation
The ''Egyptian Tennis Federation'' ( ar, الاتحاد المصري للتنس, ETF) is an organisation set up in 1920 that takes charge of the organisation, co-ordination and promotion of tennis in Egypt. It is recognised by the International Tennis Federation and Confederation of African Tennis on region (African) basis. Its headquarters are at Cairo. It was founded under the name ''Egypt Tennis Federation'' then ''Tennis United Arab Republic Federation'' until it changed to the ''Egyptian Tennis Federation'' in 1976. The roles of the FFT include organising tennis competitions in Egypt, supporting and co-ordinating tennis clubs, and managing the Egyptian tennis teams, organizing local tournaments including their Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams. Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including wheelchair users. The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century as lawn tennis. International Tennis Federation
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis. It was founded in 1913 as the International Lawn Tennis Federation by twelve national tennis associations. As of 2016, there are 211 national and six regional associations that make up ITF's membership. The ITF's governance responsibilities include maintaining and enforcing the rules of tennis, regulating international team competitions, promoting the game, and preserving the sport's integrity via anti-doping and anti-corruption programs. Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) (french: Confédération Africaine de tennis ) is the continental Sports governing body, governing body of tennis in Africa. It is the non-profit private organization based in Tunis and affiliated with International Tennis Federation. The main aim of the CAT is to regulate the rules of tennis in the African continent, to develop the fundamental infrastructures for the sport, and to popularize it throughout the continent. The Egypt men's national tennis team represents Egypt in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Egyptian Tennis Federation. Egypt Fed Cup Team
The Egypt Billie Jean King Cup team represents Egypt in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Egyptian Tennis Federation. They currently compete in the Europe/Africa Zone of Group III. History Egypt competed in its first Fed Cup in 1986, but did not play again until 1994. They then competed again in 1995, but not in 1996. Since 1997, Egypt has taken part in every edition. Their best result was second place in their Group II pool in 2001 and 2003.
