''Eesti otsib superstaari'' ''(Estonia is Searching for a Superstar)'' is an Estonian reality-competition gameshow airing on TV3. It debuted on 11 March 2007 and it has since become one of the most popular shows in Estonia. Part of the Idol franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by the British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best singer in Estonia through a series of nationwide auditions. The outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by the viewers. Mihkel Raud
Mihkel Raud (born 18 January 1969) is an Estonian writer, music artist, actor, and a former member of the Estonian parliament. He is best known for his book ''Musta pori näkku'' and as a former host of an Estonian talk show on TV3. Personal life Mihkel Raud was born the middle of three siblings to children's authors Eno Raud and Aino Raud (''née'' Pervik). His grandfather was playwright, poet and writer Mart Raud. His older brother is scholar and author Rein Raud and his younger sister is artist Piret Raud. Career Mihkel Raud began his career as a child actor. Ott Lepland
Ott Lepland (born 17 May 1987) is an Estonian singer. He first received national mainstream attention in 2009, after winning the third season of ''Eesti otsib superstaari''. Lepland represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with the song "'' Kuula''" placing 6th in the final. Biography Lepland has been singing since he was a child. He released four albums with children songs in 1995 and 1996. At the moment Lepland is studying at Georg Ots' Tallinn Music School pop and jazz singing. He has also studied piano for ten years. Jana Kask
Jana Kask (born 11 November 1991) is an Estonian singer and the winner of ''Eesti otsib superstaari'' 2008, the second season of the Estonian version of ''Pop Idol''. In the final, she competed against Arno Suislep, winning it by getting 52.9% of the votes. Her first studio album was released in late 2009. For now, she holds the record as being the youngest winner of the Idol series worldwide at the time of her triumph, which was set by Casey Donovan, winner of Season 2 of ''Australian Idol ''Australian Idol'' is an Australian singing competition, which began its first season in July 2003 and ended its initial run in November 2009. Birgit Õigemeel
Birgit Sarrap (née Õigemeel, born 24 September 1988), also known as simply Birgit, is an Estonian singer. Õigemeel rose to prominence in 2007 after winning the first season of ''Eesti otsib superstaari'', the Estonian version of ''Idol''. Her debut self-titled studio album was later released in 2008. Õigemeel has gone on to release four other studio albums in her career. Õigemeel represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Et uus saaks alguse" after winning ''Eesti Laul 2013''. She qualified for the grand final, where she placed 20th. TV3 is a commercial television channel targeted at an Estonian language audience owned by Providence Equity Partners. History It was founded in 1996 after two recently established television stations, EVTV and RTV, were merged. TV3 has two sister channels. TV6 is a television channel targeted at entertainment television channel in Estonia, launched in 2002. TV8 is an entertainment television channel, launched as a digital sister channel to TV3 in 2009. Koit Toome
Koit Toome (born 3 January 1979), is an Estonian singer and musical actor. He has twice represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest. In Eurovision Song Contest 1998, 1998 he finished 12th with the song "Mere lapsed". In Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, 2017 he sang a duet with Laura Põldvere, entitled "Verona (song), Verona". Career Koit Toome was discovered in the music school in 1994 by the music producer Mikk Targo who was initially planning to launch a solo career for Koit. It later turned out that Koit's schoolmate and initial backing vocalist Sirli Hiius harmonized perfectly with Koit. Due to this, Koit's solo turned into a pop duo, Code One, which enjoyed a successful run of top hits that over the years have become evergreens.
