Edward Albert Gibbs
Edward Albert Gibbs, (1 April 1903 – 22 July 1982) was an officer in the Royal Navy who commanded anti-submarine destroyers in the Second World War. He was the first person to receive the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) four times in the Second World War. Career Gibbs joined the Royal Navy in 1923. He was a commander at the outbreak of war in 1939. He commanded the destroyer from July 1939 to November 1940 and then the destroyer from January 1942 to November 1943. Gibbs was promoted to the rank of captain in December 1946 and retired from the Royal Navy in February 1949. HMS ''Fortune'' HMS ''Fortune'' helped sink with depth charges west of Scotland in September 1939. Gibbs was awarded the DSO in December 1939. Hendon
Hendon is an urban area in the Borough of Barnet, North-West London northwest of Charing Cross. Hendon was an ancient manor and parish in the county of Middlesex and a former borough, the Municipal Borough of Hendon; it has been part of Greater London since 1965. Hendon falls almost entirely within the NW4 postcode, while the West Hendon part falls in NW9. Colindale to the north-west was once considered part of Hendon but is today separated by the M1 motorway. The district is most famous for the London Aerodrome which later became the RAF Hendon; from 1972 the site of the RAF station was gradually handed over to the RAF Museum. Åndalsnes
is a town in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Åndalsnes is in the administrative center of Rauma Municipality. It is located along the Isfjorden, at the mouth of the river Rauma, at the north end of the Romsdalen valley. The village of Isfjorden lies about to the east, Veblungsnes lies just to the west across the Rauma, and Innfjorden lies about to the southwest via the European Route E136 highway. Fairey Swordfish
The Fairey Swordfish is a biplane torpedo bomber, designed by the Fairey Aviation Company. Originating in the early 1930s, the Swordfish, nicknamed "Stringbag", was principally operated by the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. It was also used by the Royal Air Force (RAF), as well as several overseas operators, including the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and the Royal Netherlands Navy.
