Edison High School (Minnesota)
Thomas Edison High School is the only public high school in the Northeast community of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It was named after the American inventor Thomas Alva Edison. Located in the Holland neighborhood, the school's academic focus areas are: American Studies, Business Enterprise, Candidate International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Personal Care & Therapeutic Services, and Technology & Multi Media. The school opened in 1922. Additions have been made to the rear of the building, and a gymnasium was built across Monroe Street. The track and football field are behind this gym, and the school's baseball/softball field is in adjacent Jackson Square Park. Alan Jeffery Anderson (born October 16, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. College career Anderson attended Michigan State University (MSU), where he played college basketball with the Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team. During his college career he was one of MSU's best ball handlers. He was the team's primary point guard during his junior season. Anderson, as a college senior, averaged 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, earning All-Big Ten Conference Team honors. Mesa Kincaid (born Cheryl Holm; 23 September 1956 - 6 September 2009) was a talk radio host in the Minneapolis-St. Paul broadcast area. Personal Kincaid was raised in Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Edison High School, where classmates voted her the one with "Wild Wit". After high school, Mesa wore many hats behind the curtains of the old Cricket Theater in Northeast Minneapolis. Anthony Joseph Jaros (February 22, 1920 – April 22, 1995) was an American professional basketball player who won two championships with the Minneapolis Lakers, one in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and one in the newly-formed National Basketball Association (NBA). Walt Dziedzic (November 29, 1932 – November 24, 2018) was an American politician who served on the Minneapolis city council from 1976 until his retirement in 2010. Prior to entering politics, Dziedzic spent 50 years as a police officer and inspector. He was also a Commissioner of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Kari Dziedzic ( ; born 1962) is an American politician, and the Majority Leader of the Minnesota Senate. Joseph Walter Dziedzic (born December 18, 1971 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a retired American professional ice hockey left winger.
