Edgar Franke
Edgar Franke (born 21 January 1960) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Hesse since 2009. In addition to his parliamentary work, he has been serving as Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health in the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz since 2021. Early life and education After graduating from the Albert-Schweitzer-School in Kassel and his civilian service with the district association of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Kassel, Franke studied political science and law in Marburg and Gießen. He passed the 1st state examination in law at the Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen and the 2nd state examination in law at the regional court in Kassel. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag. Olaf Scholz (; born ) is a German politician who has served as the chancellor of Germany since 8 December 2021. A member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD), he previously served as Vice Chancellor of Germany, Vice Chancellor under Angela Merkel and as Federal Ministry of Finance (Germany), Federal Minister of Finance from 2018 to 2021. The Seeheimer Kreis (; English: "Seeheim Circle") is an official internal grouping in the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The group describes itself as "undogmatic and pragmatic" and generally takes moderately liberal economic positions. It was founded in September 1974.
