Eden (Israeli Band)
Eden ( he, עדן) were an Israeli vocal group active between 1996 and 2001, consisting of Doron Oren, Rafael Dahan and brothers Gabriel and Eddie Butler. They are known primarily for their participation in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest. Eden were chosen by internal selection to represent Israel in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". As a result of Dana International's Eurovision victory the previous year, the 1999 contest was held on their home ground in Jerusalem on 29 May, when "Yom Huledet (Birthday)" finished in a respectable fifth place of the 23 entries. Eden also recorded several music tracks for the Italian albums "The Long Road: Grandi Classici Per Viaggiare" and "California: The Best of West Coast Music Vol. 2" released in 2005. Eddie Butler (singer)
Eddie Butler (born October 2, 1971) ( he, אדי בטלר) is an Israeli singer. He was born in Dimona to a family of Black Hebrew Israelites from Chicago. Butler started performing at the age of eight. In the 1990s he sang with wedding bands, and in 1992 worked as a backing singer for Zehava Ben. In 1999 Butler represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem as part of the Eden group which consisted of Eddie, Eddie's older brother Gabriel Butler, Rafael Dahan and Doron Oren. Their song "Happy Birthday" finished 5th with 93 points. Eden broke up in 2001, and after the group's breakup, Butler launched a solo career. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, Israel was represented by Israeli band Eden with the song "Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". The Israeli entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem was announced on 17 January 1999, having been selected internally by an expert committee assembled by the country's public broadcasting service IBA. Israel was drawn to compete nineteenth in the contest, held on 29 May 1999. At the end of the night, the nation placed 5th in the field of 23 entries, receiving 93 points. Sharon Cohen ( he, שרון כהן; born 2 February 1969), professionally known as Dana International ( he, דנה אינטרנשיונל), is an Israeli pop singer. She has released eight albums and three additional compilation albums. She was the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with the song "Diva". After consolidating her initial commercial success with the albums '' Umpatampa'' (1994) and ''Maganuna'' (1996), she was selected in 1998 to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Diva". Placing first at the international competition, she came to public attention throughout Europe. PingPong ( he, פינג פונג) is an Israeli pop quartet that represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song Sameach ( he, שמח, lit. ''Happy''). The members of the band were: Guy Assif, Ahal Eden, Roy Arad and Yifat Giladi. The band released one album ''Between Moral and Fashion'' (2000, Hed Arzi) with songs like "Burger Ranch" (Israeli chain of fastfood restaurants), "I got a lover in Givati" and "Mr. Israel". This album sells only about 1000 copies. Their hit song " Sameach" (Hebrew for "Happy") was admitted to the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest.
