PingPong (band)
PingPong ( he, פינג פונג) is an Israeli pop quartet that represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song Sameach ( he, שמח, lit. ''Happy''). The members of the band were: Guy Assif, Ahal Eden, Roy Arad and Yifat Giladi. The band released one album ''Between Moral and Fashion'' (2000, Hed Arzi) with songs like "Burger Ranch" (Israeli chain of fastfood restaurants), "I got a lover in Givati" and "Mr. Israel". This album sells only about 1000 copies. Their hit song " Sameach" (Hebrew for "Happy") was admitted to the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. At the close of voting the song had received 7 points, placing 22nd in a field of 24. The song lyrics mentioned a friend from Damascus who dates an Israeli girl. The Eurovision Song Contest 2000 was the 45th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen. Tal Sondak represented Israel with the song "En Davar". Before Eurovision Kdam Eurovision 2001 The final took place on 28 December 2000 at the Neve Ilan TV Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Duo Datz and broadcast on Channel 1. Twelve entries competed and the winner was selected by a combination of the votes from five voting groups: three regional juries jury groups (18%), an expert jury of IBA representatives (29%) and votes from the public (53%). The winner was "En Davar" performed by Tal Sondak, and written by Yair Klinger and Shimrit Orr. Tal Sondak ( he, טל סונדק; born July 23, 1976) is an Israeli singer. His musical career started at the age of ten as a member of a boys choir. He received several first prizes at children's song festivals, most recently as a 15-year-old, where he won with a song that he had written himself. He has represented Israel at several music festivals and sung for the Jewish community in Denmark, the USA, Switzerland and Canada. He has been a frequent guest on TV programs and in several musical projects in Israel. The Israeli entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem was announced on 17 January 1999, having been selected internally by an expert committee assembled by the country's public broadcasting service IBA. Israel was drawn to compete nineteenth in the contest, held on 29 May 1999. At the end of the night, the nation placed 5th in the field of 23 entries, receiving 93 points. Before Eurovision Internal selection 900 songs were submitted by the public, which were subsequently evaluated by a special committee that shortlisted four songs. Eden (Israeli Band)
Eden ( he, עדן) were an Israeli vocal group active between 1996 and 2001, consisting of Doron Oren, Rafael Dahan and brothers Gabriel and Eddie Butler. They are known primarily for their participation in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest. Eden were chosen by internal selection to represent Israel in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". As a result of Dana International's Eurovision victory the previous year, the 1999 contest was held on their home ground in Jerusalem on 29 May, when "Yom Huledet (Birthday)" finished in a respectable fifth place of the 23 entries. Eden also recorded several music tracks for the Italian albums "The Long Road: Grandi Classici Per Viaggiare" and "California: The Best of West Coast Music Vol. 2" released in 2005. Beer7 ( he, ביר7) is a Ska punk band from Be'er Sheva, Israel. The name is a shortened version of the city's name – ''Sheva'' is Hebrew for seven. The band was formed in 2001, and recorded its first album in 2003. The album ''Skandal'' was distributed by an indie label named "Ra records". It was sold out and later uploaded online.
