Eddie McGoorty
Edward Martin "Eddie" McGoorty (July 31, 1889 – November 2, 1929) was a middleweight American boxer who won the Australian version of the World Middleweight Title during his career. McGoorty won the amateur 130 lb Boxing Championship of Wisconsin in 1904, at the age of 15. He began boxing professionally in 1905 under the name ''Edwin Van Dusart''. He was briefly recognized as the World Middleweight Champion in Sydney, Australia. His last recorded bout took place in 1922. Eureka, Winnebago County, Wisconsin
Eureka is an unincorporated census-designated place in the town of Rushford, in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located on the Fox River at the intersection of county highways K & E southwest of Omro. At the 2020 census, its population was 247. History Eureka is situated on the south bank of the Fox River. Lester Rounds moved his stock of goods from Waukau to the site of Eureka in 1850, where he was joined by Walton C. Dickerson, who moved from Nepeuskun. They became the first settlers and founders of Eureka, a plot of which was recorded on 24 July 1850, of which Rounds, Dickerson and Starr were proprietors. A ferry was established across the Fox River at this point, during the same season, and four years later a bridge was constructed. Orthodox Stance
In combat sports such as boxing, an orthodox stance is one in which the boxer places their left foot farther in front of the right foot, thus having their weaker side closer to the opponent. Because it favors the stronger, dominant side (often the right side; see laterality), the orthodox stance is the most common stance in boxing and MMA. It is mostly used by right-handed boxers. Many boxing champions have fought in an orthodox stance. Alternative stances The corresponding designation for a left-handed boxer is southpaw and is generally a mirror image of the orthodox stance. A southpaw boxer guards and jabs with their right hand. BoxRec or boxrec.com is a website dedicated to holding updated records of professional and amateur boxers, both male and female. It also maintains a MediaWiki-based encyclopaedia of boxing. The objective of the site is to document every professional boxer and boxing match from the instigation of the Queensberry Rules up to the present times.
