Eastern Regional Command (Denmark)
The Eastern Regional Command ( da, Østre Landsdelskommando) (known until 1923 as 1st General Command ( da, 1. Generalkommando)) was the overall command of all Royal Danish Army units on Zealand. It was split into four military regions and was responsible for regional defence. In 1990, the Regional Commands were disbanded and control was collected at the newly created Army Operational Command (Denmark), Army Operational Command. History Following the introduction of absolute monarchy in 1660, the Monarchy of Denmark, King held absolute power over the army. However, in cases of war, the King would appoint regional commanders. Allied Forces Northern Europe (AFNORTH) was the northern Major Subordinate Command of NATO's Allied Command Europe (ACE), located at Kolsås outside Oslo. In the case of war with the Soviet Union, AFNORTH would assume supreme command of all Allied forces in northern Europe (Norway and Denmark) and Germany north of Elbe/Hamburg and adjacent sea territory. Royal Life Guards (Denmark)
The Royal Life Guards ( da, Den Kongelige Livgarde) is a mechanized infantry regiment of the Danish Army, founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. The primary task is to provide a number of soldiers from the Guard Company to serve as a guard/ceremonial unit to the Danish monarchy, while training the Royal Guards for various functions in the mobilisation force. Queen's Life Regiment
The Queen's Life Regiment ( da, Dronningens Livregiment) was a Royal Danish Army infantry regiment. On 1 January 2001, it was amalgamated with the Prince's Life Regiment. History After the siege and storming of Copenhagen, on 16 October 1659, Frederick III of Denmark, King Frederick III honored the regiment with the name "Queen's Life Regiment" for the regiment's courage. The regiment was in foreign war service (mostly British) around 1700.
