EC Graz
EC Graz was an Austrian ice hockey team from Graz, Styria, playing in the Austrian Hockey League and Alpenliga in the 1990s. History The EC Graz (also called "the elephants") emerged in 1990 when the UEC Graz and ATSE Graz were merged. ATSE Graz finished 2nd in the Austrian National League and therefore qualified for the Austrian Hockey League season 1989/90. UEC Graz, which was founded in 1985,* Gerd Renner: ''50 Jahre Eishockey in der Steiermark, 1956 - 2006'', qualified for the Austrian National League the same year. Both clubs united in April 1990, in the following season ATSE was removed from the name. The club experienced its heyday under President Hannes Kartnig, finishing three times the runner-up title in the seasons 1991-92, 1992–93 and 1993–94 despite running at a high financial cost. Bill Gardner (ice Hockey)
William Scott Gardner (born March 19, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward and current color commentator for the Chicago Wolves. He played in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Hartford Whalers between 1980 and 1989. Career Gardner was born in Toronto, Ontario. During the 1976–77 season, Gardner played for the Seneca Nationals alongside future all-time NHL points leader Wayne Gretzky. Gardner won the team's Most Valuable Player award that season, scoring 103 points as a defensemen. Gardner then went on to play for the OHL's Peterborough Petes, where in 1979, the Petes would go on to win the Memorial Cup. Martin Ulrich
Martin Ulrich (born December 16, 1969) is a retired Austrian ice hockey defenceman. He was the captain of the Austrian national ice hockey team. Born in Vienna, Austria, Ulrich began his career with three seasons at Vienna before joining Graz EC in 1991 again in a three-year spell. After a brief return to Vienna, Ulrich moved to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany, playing for the Adler Mannheim for two seasons. Matthias Trattnig (born April 22, 1979) is an Austrian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 4th round (94th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and was a leader at the University of Maine. Trattnig most notably played as the longtime Captain of EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League. Following his 14th season with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2018-19 season, Trattnig ended his 24-year professional career on 15 April 2019. Todd R. Reirden (born June 25, 1971) is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the associate coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously held head coaching positions for the Washington Capitals in the NHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League (AHL). Reirden played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes, Atlanta Thrashers, and Edmonton Oilers. Kent Åke "Kenta" Nilsson (born 31 August 1956) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey centre. He played in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the Winnipeg Jets, and in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Atlanta and Calgary Flames, Minnesota North Stars and Edmonton Oilers, as well as teams across various European leagues. Donald Kenneth Nachbaur (born January 30, 1959) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Hartford Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers between 1980 and 1990. He would later spend four years in the Austrian Hockey League. After retiring Nachbaur turned to coaching, and spent several years as a head coach in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Wayne Groulx (born February 2, 1965) is a Canadian born Austrian former ice hockey centre. During the 1984–85 NHL season, he played one game for the Quebec Nordiques. Groulx was drafted 172nd overall by the Nordiques in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and played one game for them during the 1984-85 NHL season. He also played in the International Hockey League for the Muskegon Lumberjacks and in the American Hockey League for the Fredericton Express and Baltimore Skipjacks. Berthiaume (born January 26, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played six seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota North Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Ottawa Senators.
