Damon Garrett Riddick (born June 15, 1971), better known by his stage name Dâm-Funk (stylized as DāM-FunK; pronounced "Dame-Funk"), is an American funk musician, vocalist and producer from Pasadena, California. In 2007, Riddick signed with the L.A.-based record label Stones Throw Records. ''7 Days of Funk'' is the eponymous debut studio album by California-based funk duo 7 Days of Funk, consisting of rapper Snoop Dogg—performing under his funk persona Snoopzilla—and modern-funk musician Dâm-Funk. The album was released on December 10, 2013, by Stones Throw Records and is Snoop's first project with a single producer since his landmark 1993 debut album, ''Doggystyle''. Recording sessions for the album took place in 2013 at The Compound and at Funkmosphere Lab in Los Angeles, and the mastering was performed at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. Guest appearances on the album include Tha Dogg Pound members Daz Dillinger and Kurupt, and former Slave frontman Steve Arrington. ''Invite the Light'' is the second solo studio album by American modern-funk musician Dâm-Funk. It was released on September 4, 2015 via Stones Throw Records. Recording sessions took place at Funkmosphere Lab in Ladera Heights, California. Production was handled by Dâm-Funk himself, with co-producers Junie Morrison and Henning, and Peanut Butter Wolf serving as executive producer. "Faden Away" is a song by California-based funk duo 7 Days of Funk, released as the lead single of their eponymous debut studio album. The song premiered on October 8, 2013, on Stones Throw Records' SoundCloud page and was made available at the Stones Throw Store and iTunes Music Store on October 15, 2013. Stones Throw released "Faden Away" along with " Hit Da Pavement" on a cassingle on December 10, 2013, with both vocal and instrumental versions. The cassette was given away exclusively with the first week's orders of the LP and 45 box set. "Faden Away", written by Calvin Broadus and Damon Riddick, was recorded at The Compound in Los Angeles, California in 2013. ''Toeachizown'' is the first solo studio album by American neo-boogie musician Dâm-Funk, released on October 27, 2009 by Stones Throw Records. Album was produced by Leon Sylvers III, a record producer of SOLAR Records and a member of 70s disco group The Sylvers. The album is influenced by 1980s funk, post-disco, electro, boogie, P-funk, sci-fi music of the 1970s and the 1980s and other eighties-influenced music. Steve Arrington
Steven Ralph Arrington (born March 5, 1956) is an American singer, songwriter, drummer, record producer, engineer and minister, who grew up in Dayton, Ohio. Biography Arrington played in various local bands before joining and touring with The Murphys, a lounge band out of Toledo, Ohio, in 1975. About a year later Arrington relocated from Ohio to San Francisco, California where he learned Latin percussion and drumming as well as playing with Coke Escovedo, Pete Escovedo and Sheila E. He joined the funk group Slave (founded 1975) on their third LP, called '' The Concept'', in 1978 – originally to play percussion, then later becoming the drummer and a backing vocalist. Leon Frank Sylvers III (born March 7, 1953, Memphis, Tennessee) is an American singer, songwriter, disc-jockey, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. He was a member of the family group The Sylvers and became one of the most successful producers in black music in the late 1970s to the mid-1980s through his association with Dick Griffey's SOLAR Records.
