MC Eiht
Aaron Tyler (born May 22, 1971), better known by his stage name MC Eiht (pronounced MC eight), is an American rapper and actor. Many of his songs are based on his life in Compton. His stage name was partly inspired by the numeral in KRS-One's name. He chose Eiht for its links to "hood culture", including Olde English 800 (8 Ball) and .38 caliber firearms. He is the ''de facto'' leader of West Coast hip hop group Compton's Most Wanted, which also included fellow Compton-based rappers Boom Bam, The Unknown DJ, Tha Chill, DJ Mike T, DJ Slip and Ant Capone. He is also known for his role as A-Wax in the 1993 film ''Menace II Society,'' as well as playing the character Ryder in the 2004 video game '' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.'' Compton is a city in southern Los Angeles County, California, United States, situated south of downtown Los Angeles. Compton is one of the oldest cities in the county and, on May 11, 1888, was the eighth city in Los Angeles County to incorporate. KRS-One
Lawrence "Kris" Parker (born August 20, 1965), better known by his stage names KRS-One (; an abbreviation of "Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone") and Teacha, is an American rapper from New York City. He rose to prominence as part of the hip hop group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed with DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s. KRS-One is known for his songs, "Sound of da Police", "Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love)", and "My Philosophy". Boogie Down Productions received numerous awards and critical acclaim in their early years. Streiht Up Menace
"Streiht Up Menace" is the debut single by MC Eiht off the soundtrack of 1993 movie ''Menace II Society''. The lyrics of the song focus on the life of the main character in the movie, Kaydee "Caine" Lawson (Tyrin Turner), acting as a sort of plot summary for the film. Compton's Most Wanted also did this with another song from a soundtrack with the song "Growin' Up In The Hood" from the ''Boyz n the Hood'' soundtrack. The track was later released on the 2001 Compton's Most Wanted compilation album "When We Wuz Bangin" and on the 2010 MC Eiht compilation album "The Best Of MC Eiht". ''Music to Driveby'' is the third studio album by American gangsta rap group Compton's Most Wanted. It was released on September 29, 1992 through Orpheus/Epic Records. Recording sessions took place at Big Beat Soundlabs in Los Angeles and at Slips X Factor Studios in Inglewood from May 18 to June 9, 1992. Production was handled by members DJ Slip, MC Eiht and DJ Mike T, as well as The Unknown DJ and Ric Roc. It features contributions from William "Willie Z" Zimmerman on background vocals, keyboards, saxophone and harmonica, EMmage on backing vocals, and guest appearance by Scarface of Geto Boys. The album peaked at number 66 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and at number 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Compton's Most Wanted (C.M.W.) is an American gangsta rap group and part of the early West Coast hip hop scene. The leaders of the group are MC Eiht and Tha Chill. History Formation and early years C.M.W. included rappers MC Eiht, Tha Chill, DJ Mike T, and producers DJ Slip and The Unknown DJ. Vernon Johnson (born December 24, 1970), professionally known by his stage name Tha Chill, is an American rapper and record producer. He embarked on his music career in the early 1990s, as a co-founder of the Compton-based West Coast hip hop/ gangsta rap group Compton's Most Wanted, along with frontman Aaron "MC Eiht" Tyler. The Unknown DJ
Andre Manuel, a disc jockey and record producer called The Unknown DJ or DJ Unknown, was a pioneer in the Los Angeles area's 1980s music scene, moving from electro funk and electro rap to gangsta rap. Now a legend of West Coast rap, he worked with rapper Ice-T in the early 1980s, then with Alonzo "Grandmaster Lonzo" Williams, and with MC Eiht's group Compton's Most Wanted in the early 1990s. Music career Manuel started in the music industry through Alonzo Williams, a DJ and party promoter in the Los Angeles area. Since his start in 1974, Williams, working under his brand name Disco Construction, earned the title "Grandmaster Lonzo." Boom Bam (born Gene Heisser, 1971) is one of the founding members of Compton's Most WantedYahoo! music. Compton's Most Wanted. . and underground rap group Niggaz on tha Run, N.O.T.R. Heisser was born in Compton, California. He met MC Eiht and Tha Chill while attending Junior High school, and a lifelong friendship developed.
