Downtime (Doctor Who)
''Downtime'' is a direct-to-video spin-off of the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. It was produced by the independent production company Reeltime Pictures. It is a sequel to the Second Doctor serials ''The Abominable Snowmen'' (1967) and ''The Web of Fear'' (1968). ''Downtime'' stars Nicholas Courtney, Deborah Watling, Jack Watling and Elisabeth Sladen reprising their roles as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Victoria Waterfield, Professor Edward Travers and Sarah Jane Smith, respectively. It introduces the character of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Downtime
The term downtime is used to refer to periods when a system is unavailable. The unavailability is the proportion of a time-span that a system is unavailable or offline. This is usually a result of the system failing to function because of an unplanned event, or because of routine maintenance (a planned event). The term is commonly applied to networks and servers. The common reasons for unplanned outages are system failures (such as a crash) or communications failures (commonly known as network outage). The term is also commonly applied in industrial environments in relation to failures in industrial production equipment. Some facilities measure the downtime incurred during a work shift, or during a 12- or 24-hour period. Yeti (Doctor Who)
The Yeti are fictional robots from the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. They were originally created by Henry Lincoln and Mervyn Haisman, and first appeared in the 1967 serial ''The Abominable Snowmen'', where they encountered the Second Doctor and his companions Jamie and Victoria. The Yeti resemble the cryptozoological creatures also called the Yeti, with an appearance Radio Times has described as "cuddly but ferocious", disguising a small spherical device that provides its motive power. ''Mawdryn Undead'' is the third serial of the 20th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was originally broadcast in four twice weekly parts on BBC1 from 1 to 9 February 1983. A narrowboat is a particular type of canal boat, built to fit the narrow locks of the United Kingdom. The UK's canal system provided a nationwide transport network during the Industrial Revolution, but with the advent of the railways, commercial canal traffic gradually diminished and the last regular long-distance transportation of goods by canal had virtually disappeared by 1970. However, some commercial traffic continued. From the 1970s onward narrowboats were gradually being converted into permanent residences or as holiday lettings. ''Fury from the Deep'' is the completely missing sixth serial of the fifth season in the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', which originally aired in six weekly parts from 16 March to 20 April 1968. In this serial, the Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and his travelling companions Jamie McCrimmon (Frazer Hines) and Victoria Waterfield (Deborah Watling) find themselves at a Euro Sea Gas refinery off the coast of contemporary England, where an infectious weed spreads rapidly, infecting and mind controlling anyone who comes into contact with it, including the refinery leader Robson (Victor Maddern). UNIT stands for United Nations Intelligence Taskforce, a fictional entity in ''Doctor Who''. Professor Edward Travers, played by Jack Watling, is a fictional anthropologist and explorer who appears in two serials of the BBC television series '' Doctor Who'' and a spin-off TV movie. ''The Web of Fear'' is the partly missing fifth serial of the fifth season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in six weekly parts from 3 February to 9 March 1968.
