Double Diamond (album)
''Double Diamond'' is the sixth album by British jazz-rock group If and the second to be issued in the U.S. on the Metromedia Records label. With only Dick Morrissey left from the original band, the new line-up featured Fi Trench (keyboards) and Pete Arnesen (keyboards), Steve Rosenthal (guitar/lead vocals), Kurt Palomaki (bass) and Cliff Davies (drums). It was recorded at The Manor recording studios shortly after Mike Oldfield's ''Tubular Bells'', and released in 1973. In that same year, following the success of the group in Germany, as part of the ''This is ...'' series, Brain Records (a division of Metronome) brought out a vinyl LP version of ''Double Diamond'' for distribution in Germany only, changing the title to ''This Is If''. Extreme Baseball, also known as Double Diamond Baseball, is a sport based on traditional baseball. The main difference is that both teams are on the field at the same time. Pitchers from each team take turns pitching to batters at two adjacent home plates. One team runs around the bases in the normal counterclockwise direction, while the other team runs around bases in a clockwise direction. The world premier game took place on May 5, 2007 at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Florida. Extreme Baseball was conceived and developed by Phillip Weidner. Double Diamond Burton Pale Ale is an English pale ale, first brewed in 1876 by Samuel Allsopp & Sons. It was one of the highest selling beers in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. History Samuel Allsopp & Sons of Burton upon Trent first brewed Double Diamond in 1876 as an India Pale Ale. Allsopp merged with Ind Coope in 1935. Bottled Double Diamond began to be advertised heavily from 1946, becoming one of four nationally distributed beers by the 1950s. Under reciprocal trading agreements Ind Coope would agree to stock a rival brewer's beer if they replaced their supply of Bass or Worthington with Double Diamond. The Double Diamond International was a team golf tournament that was played from 1971 to 1977. It was hosted in England for the first three years, and then in Scotland. From 1974 and 1977 the event was preceded by an individual 36-hole stroke play tournament that was included on the British PGA tournament circuit; the circuit would later become officially recognised as the European Tour. Winners England won in 1976 by being 2 holes up in the four matches played in the final against the Rest of the World. 1971 The tournament was played on 21, 22, and 23 October, between the four home nations at South Staffs Golf Club, with each team playing the other three. The event was a 36-hole strokeplay tournament which preceded the Double Diamond International team event, which was played later the same week. Five-pin bowling is a bowling variant which is played in Canada, where many bowling alleys offer it, either alone or in combination with ten-pin bowling. It was devised around 1909 by Thomas F. Ryan in Toronto, Ontario, at his Toronto Bowling Club, in response to customers who complained that the ten-pin game was too strenuous. He cut five tenpins down to about 75% of their size, and used hand-sized hard rubber balls, thus inventing the original version of five-pin bowling.
