Distort Entertainment
Distort Entertainment is a Canadian independent record label based in Toronto, Ontario. The label specializes in bands performing hardcore punk-derived music, including Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats and Johnny Truant, but its sister division Distort Light has also released less aggressive rock bands such as Bend Sinister. History Formed by Greg Below, (concert promoter and owner of Distort Productions) and Mitch Joel, (music journalist and publicist) in early 2002, Distort began by producing New Jersey's Step Kings' third release, ''3 The Hard Way''. The label's slogan "Listen Harder" was soon formed and showed Distort's specialization in heavy music. In 2002, Below's full-time employment as a studio manager with EMI publishing Canada later helped to jump start Distort by opening the door to a distribution partnership with EMI Music Canada. Greg Below
Greg Below is the president and founding partner of Distort Entertainment, Canadian show promoter and music producer. Greg is known for his height and enthusiastic love of music (especially metal). Distort Entertainment Greg and his partner, Mitch Joel decided to form Distort Entertainment after being introduced by a journalist friend of Mitch's. Below called Mitch shortly after meeting him with the proposal to start a record label. Later became Distort Inc. Distort Inc. specializes in heavy music, hardcore, and post-hardcore. Located in Toronto Ontario, Distort Entertainment is well known for its influence in the underground music market. Blackstorm are a rock/blues band from Yuendumu in the Northern Territory. The members are Warlpiri and their songs are sung in Warlpiri and English. Oceana (band)
Polyenso is an American experimental rock band based in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. The band is composed of lead vocalist and keyboardist Brennan Taulbee, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Alexander Schultz, and percussionist Denny Agosto. The band's members were all at one point in American post-hardcore band Oceana, but moved to lighter, more uplifting music under the name Polyenso in 2012. Their sound is a blend of indie rock, electronic, folk, jazz, and hip-hop. They released their debut album, ''One Big Particular Loop'', on January 22, 2013. On October 16, 2015, the band released ''EP1'' featuring four tracks from their upcoming second album, ''Pure in the Plastic''. Lower Than Atlantis were an English Rock music, rock band from Watford, Hertfordshire. They formed in 2007 as a hardcore punk band and gradually shifted into a rock sound over five studio albums, their last being 2017's ''Safe in Sound (Lower Than Atlantis album), Safe in Sound''. The Gorgeous
The Gorgeous were a Canadian metalcore band formed in the summer of 2003 in Vancouver/Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The band formed with Dali Shaw on guitar, Julien Brousseau on bass and Miguel Shaw on drums. The three played a few shows without a vocalist and quickly recruited Jordan Daniel. The band recorded a five-song demo at Flying Monkey Studio in Kelowna and took a one-year hiatus. The following summer, the band had an opportunity to tour Canada, upon which they decided to relocate to Montreal and renew their music career. In Montreal they recruited Hal Ferris on second guitar. Dead and Divine was a five-piece post-hardcore band out of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Their initial success spawned from their 2005 EP ''What Really Happened at Lover's Lane'' on Verona Records (a label created by the band themselves, and Silverstein's Shane Told).
