Dickie Bachmann
Richard "Dickie" Bachmann (born 1968 or 1969) is a Filipino sports executive and former basketball player who serves as the chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). Education Bachmann attended De La Salle University from 1986 to 1991 graduating with a degree in commerce. Career Playing career Bachmann also played for the Green Archers, the De La Salle University's varsity team when he was in college. He was also part of the Alaska Milkmen of the Philippine Basketball Association. He joined the team in the 1993 PBA Draft at age 25. Sports administration Bachmann was the basketball commissioner of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) having overseen Season 85. He was selected by host Adamson University as commissioner and was set to also oversee Season 86 prior to his appointment as PSC chairman. The sports agency is independent from the Philippine Olympic Committee which enjoys autonomy from the government. PBA 3x3 refers to the men's 3x3 basketball league of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). History The proposal to form PBA 3x3, a men's 3x3 basketball league, was a result of a joint partnership between the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the national sports association for basketball in the Philippines, as a means to help the Philippine national 3x3 team qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics and subsequent editions after 3x3 became a regular discipline in the 2020 Summer Olympics. The concept for a PBA 3x3 league was proposed by Terrafirma governor Bobby Rosales in an annual board meeting. The UAAP Season 85 basketball tournaments are the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2022–23 school year. The collegiate men's and women's tournaments began on October 1, 2022. Richard "Dickie" Bachmann, former Alaska Aces governor in the Philippine Basketball Association, was appointed as the UAAP basketball commissioner for this season. Bachmann's term as basketball commissioner will extend to the league's 86th season. Tournament format The UAAP will continue to use the UAAP Final Four format. Fr. The De La Salle Green Archers (also known simply as the Green Archers) are the men's varsity teams representing De La Salle University in the Philippines.
