Deventer Colmschate Railway Station
Deventer Colmschate is a railway station located in Deventer, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1888 and is located on the Deventer–Almelo railway. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station was closed between 15 May 1933 and 10 December 1989. Before the reopening in 1989, the station's name was simply Colmschate as Colmschate was a village back then. Some time after the closure, it was incorporated as a neighbourhood of Deventer. Deventer
Deventer (; Sallands: ) is a city and municipality in the Salland historical region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020, Deventer had a population of 100,913. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but it also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country. Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The place is already mentioned in 9th-century sources of the Diocese of Utrecht. Deventer–Almelo Railway
The Deventer–Almelo railway is an important Dutch railway line, that connects Deventer with Almelo, Netherlands. History The railway was opened by the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Locaalspoorweg-Maatschappij (KNLS) on 1 September 1888, with construction starting in 1887. When the line opened it offered a direct link to Germany via the Almelo-Salzbergen railway. The line was electrified in 1951. Route The line leaves Deventer in an easterly direction towards Almelo, shortly after leaving, the Staatslijn A to Zutphen leaves in a southerly direction. The line continues travelling through the countryside and a few towns. At Wierden the line from Zwolle joins on and the line continues. On approaching Almelo the line from Mariënberg also joins. The station arrives at Almelo, where the railway becomes the Almelo-Salzbergen railway continues east.
