Dean Young (cartoonist)
Dean Wayne Young (born July 2, 1938) is the head writer of the popular comic strip '' Blondie'', which he inherited from his father Chic Young, who died in 1973. Since then, Dean Young has collaborated on ''Blondie'' with several artists: Jim Raymond (1973–81), Mike Gersher (1981–84), Stan Drake (1984–97) and Denis Lebrun (1997–2005). Since 2005, ''Blondie'' is drawn by John Marshall, who worked with his assistant Frank Cummings until the latter's death in 2014. In 1986, Young talked about his gag situations, his approach to the characters of Blondie and Dagwood and satisfying his readers. ''Blondie'' is an American comic strip created by cartoonist Chic Young. The comic strip is distributed by King Features Syndicate, and has been published in newspapers since September 8, 1930. The success of the strip, which features the eponymous blonde and her sandwich-loving husband, led to the long-running '' Blondie'' film series (1938–1950) and the popular '' Blondie'' radio program (1939–1950). Chic Young wrote and drew ''Blondie'' until his death in 1973, when creative control passed to his son Dean Young. Murat Bernard "Chic" Young (January 9, 1901March 14, 1973) was an American cartoonist who created the comic strip ''Blondie (comic strip), Blondie''. Lyman Young
Lyman W. Young (October 20, 1893 – February 12, 1984) was an American cartoonist who created the strip ''Tim Tyler's Luck''. His younger brother, Chic Young, was the creator of '' Blondie''. Like his brother, Lyman Young was encouraged to do artwork by his mother, who was a painter. After Young studied at the Chicago Art Institute and served in World War I, he worked as a salesman. He began his career as a cartoonist in 1924 by stepping in to draw C. W. Kahles' comic strip ''The Kelly Kids''. In 1927, he created his own strip, ''The Kid Sister'', a spin-off of ''The Kelly Kids''. ''Tim Tyler's Luck'' Young launched ''Tim Tyler's Luck'' in 1928, and in 1935, he added a topper strip '. Jim Raymond
James Crossley Raymond (February 25, 1917 – October 14, 1981) was an American comic strip artist and the younger brother of ''Flash Gordon'' artist Alex Raymond. He was also the great-uncle of actors Matt Dillon and Kevin Dillon. Biography Born in Riverside, Connecticut and raised in New Rochelle, New York, Raymond's first cartoons were published in his high school newspaper. In 1935, he started as an assistant on the '' Blondie'' comic strip, mostly as a replacement for his brother, who had been working on ''Blondie'' for three years before leaving to start his own strips. Mike Gersher was formerly an artist on the Blondie comic strip. He started being credited as the head artist in late December 1981, after the death of the long serving Jim Raymond James Crossley Raymond (February 25, 1917 – October 14, 1981) was an American comic strip artist and the younger brother of ''Flash Gordon'' artist Alex Raymond. John Marshall is an American cartoonist, best known as the artist of the '' Blondie'' comic strip since 2005. He works closely with scripter Dean Young, son of the strip's creator, Chic Young. Born in Waverly, New York, John Marshall took an interest in cartooning at an early age. He was bored during the summer between the fourth and fifth grades and began drawing ''Peanuts'' characters on brown paper bags. When he was 14, his career as a cartoonist was jump-started by his grandmother who urged him to send cartoons to '' Parade''. On his first try, ''Parade'' bought one. Belleair is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 3,869. History Belleair traces its origins to 1896 as a planned resort town with the construction of the Belleview Hotel by railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant. Originally known as Belleair Heights, the village consisted of a few dozen homes, livestock stables, and a famed 200-seat coliseum where bicycle races and political rallies were held.
