John Marshall (cartoonist)
John Marshall is an American cartoonist, best known as the artist of the '' Blondie'' comic strip since 2005. He works closely with scripter Dean Young, son of the strip's creator, Chic Young. Born in Waverly, New York, John Marshall took an interest in cartooning at an early age. He was bored during the summer between the fourth and fifth grades and began drawing ''Peanuts'' characters on brown paper bags. When he was 14, his career as a cartoonist was jump-started by his grandmother who urged him to send cartoons to '' Parade''. On his first try, ''Parade'' bought one. Marshall recalled, "It's tough peaking in the tenth grade." This was followed by a sale to ''The Saturday Evening Post''. ''Hägar the Horrible'' is the title and main character of an American comic strip created by cartoonist Dik Browne and syndicated by King Features Syndicate. It first appeared in February 1973 and was an immediate success. Since Browne's retirement in 1988 (and subsequent death), his son Chris Browne has continued the strip with artwork by Gary Hallgren.William B. The New York Giants are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The Giants compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) East division. National Cartoonists Society
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Only recently has the National Cartoonists Society embraced web comics. Charles Brooks (cartoonist)
Charles G. Brooks (November 22, 1920 – September 29, 2011) was an editorial cartoonist for ''The Birmingham News'' in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. He used his platform at ''The Birmingham News'' to criticize the Ku Klux Klan, despite the number of powerful supporters in the region at that time. He won the Sigma Delta Chi Award for the most outstanding editorial cartoon of 1959 and served as president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists in 1969. Early life Brooks was born in Hopewell, near Andalusia in Covington County, Alabama. After high school he moved to Birmingham and studied at Birmingham-Southern College for two years, and then transferred to the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts where he was instructed by Vaughn Shoemaker (''Chicago Daily News'') and Don Ulsh.
