David Simpson (Texas Politician)
David Philip Simpson (born June 27, 1961) is a former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 7, based in Gregg and Upshur counties. In 2010, he unseated the incumbent, Tommy Merritt of Longview, in the Republican primary with 52.88 percent of the vote and then prevailed in the general election for the 82nd Texas Legislature on November 2, 2010 with 91.28 percent of the vote, having had no Democratic opponent. Life and career Simpson was born in Lubbock in West Texas. He was the mayor of Avinger in Cass County from 1993 to 1998 before he relocated in 2000 to Longview, the seat of government of Gregg County. He and his wife, Susan, have seven children. Simpson is a Christian and has published a statement of faith. He has been described as someone who "did exactly what he said he would do in his campaign and stood for limited government". District 7 is a district in the Texas House of Representatives. It was created in the 3rd legislature (1849–1851). The district has been represented by Republican Jay Dean since January 10, 2017, upon his initial election to the Texas House. Mineola, Texas
Mineola is a city in the U.S. state of Texas in Wood County, Texas, Wood County. It lies 26 miles north of Tyler. Its population was 4,823 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. The town was incorporated as the railroads arrived in 1873. A railroad official, Ira H. Evans, combined the names of his daughter, Ola, and her friend, Minnie Patten, to create the city name Mineola. History Mineola came into existence when the railroads built lines through the eastern part of the state. Cass County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 28,454. The county seat is Linden. The county was named for United States Senator Lewis Cass (D-Michigan), who favored the U.S. annexation of Texas in the mid-19th century.
