Darren Morrissey
Darren Morrissey (born 1999) is an Irish hurler who plays for Galway Senior Championship club Sarsfields and at inter-county level with the Galway senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a right corner-back. Playing career Sarsfields Morrissey joined the Sarsfields club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels. He made his first appearance for the club's senior team during the 2017 Galway Championship. Galway Minor Morrissey first played for Galway when he captained the minor team during the 2017 All-Ireland Championship. He made his first appearance for the team on 22 July 2017 in a 2-19 to 1-12 defeat of Clare. On 3 September, Morrissey captained Galway to a 2-17 to 2-15 All-Ireland final defeat of Cork at Croke Park. Senior Morrissey made his senior debut for Galway on 3 February 2019 when he played at right corner-back in a 0-20 apiece draw with Carlow in the National Hurling League. Sarsfields GAA (Galway)
Sarsfields Galway is a GAA club consisting of the parish of Bullaun, New Inn and Woodlawn in East County Galway, Ireland. Winners of two All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship's. The club was founded in 1966 and is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. And in 2016 Sarsfields Hurling Club celebrated its 50th year. Sarsfields Galway were the first club to defend their All-Ireland Club Hurling title. In 1993 Sarsfields defeated opponents Kilmallock, County Limerick in their first All-Ireland club final. In 1994, Sarsfields retained their club title with a victory over Toomevara, County Tipperary. History Prior to 1966, two clubs St. Killians (of New Inn), and Bullaun existed in the parish. The Carlow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Ceatharlach) or Carlow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Carlow and the Carlow county teams. 2021 National Hurling League
The 2021 National Hurling League was the 90th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. The English county teams (London, Warwickshire and Lancashire) did not compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. In February 2021 it was announced that the league would be delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games and that cancelling it would be a last resort. The league began on 8 May 2021. Eir Sport and RTÉ provided live TV coverage of the league on Saturday nights. TG4 broadcast Sunday afternoon games.
