Dalton United Association Football Club is a football club based in Dalton-in-Furness in Cumbria, England. They are currently members of the and play at Railway Meadow. The club are affiliated with the Lancashire Football Association, and also have two teams playing in the local Furness Premier League. Their colours are red and black striped shirts, black shorts and black socks. History Dalton United became members of the West Lancashire League in 1971, playing in the Second Division. In the 1975–76 season they finished as runners-up and were promoted to the First Division. In 1980–81 and 1981–82 seasons the club entered the FA Vase, reaching the first round in the latter season. Dalton-in-Furness
Dalton-in-Furness is a town and former civil parish in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. In 2011 it had a population of 7,827. It is located north east of Barrow-in-Furness. History Dalton is mentioned in the Domesday Book, written as "Daltune" as one of the townships forming the Manor of Hougun held by Tostig Godwinson, Earl of Northumbria. Historically, it was the capital of Furness. The ancient parish of Dalton covered the area which is now occupied by the borough of Barrow-in-Furness. The town is now in the civil parish of Dalton Town with Newton. Historically a part of Lancashire, the town is associated with a number of famous artists, including George Romney. In 1961 the parish had a population of 10,316. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. AFC Fylde is a professional football club based in Wesham in the Borough of Fylde, Lancashire, England. They are currently members of the and play at Mill Farm.
