Honken was involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, and one of his dealers was set to testify against him, so Honken and Johnson murdered him along with his girlfriend and her two young daughters. A few months later, the fifth victim, also a former dealer, was murdered. Although Iowa abolished capital punishment in 1965, the crime was a federal case since it involved a continuing criminal enterprise. Britt, Iowa
Britt is a city in Hancock County, Iowa, United States, and is the home of the National Hobo Convention and the Hobo Museum. The population was 2,044 at the 2020 census. History A train depot was built at Britt in 1870, with tracks running from east to west through the town. The first train line running through the town was the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul line, followed by the Iowa, Chicago and Eastern line. As of 2019, the Canadian Pacific Railway runs through the town, mostly carrying grain. Britt was platted in 1878. It is believed to be named for a railroad engineer or brakeman. The United States Federal Sentencing Guidelines are rules published by the U.S. Sentencing Commission that set out a uniform policy for Sentence (law), sentencing individuals and organizations convicted of Classes of offenses under United States federal law, felonies and serious (Class A) misdemeanors in the United States federal courts system.
