A roadside bombing attributed to al-Shabaab killed 13 security forces in Dusmareb on February 6, 2021, shortly after a breakdown in talks about the 2021 Somali presidential election were announced. Dusmareb ( so, Dhuusamareeb, ar, ุณู ุฑูุจ, it, Dusa Mareb) is the capital of Galmudug state in central Somalia. The city also serves as the administrative capital of the Galguduud province. Historically, the city was known as Daar Dheer or simply Dardher but later in time the city's name changed to Dusamareb also spelled Dhusamareb. Location Dusamareb is 511 km from Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia. The highway that connects the north and the south of the country goes through the city. Dhusamareb has borders with El Buur to the east Guriceel to the south, Adado to north and Abudwak to the northwest. Galguduud ( so, Galgaduud, ar, ุฌูุฌุฏูุฏ, it, Galgudud or ''Ghelgudud'') is an administrative region ('' gobol'') of Galmudug state in central Somalia. Its administrative capital is Dusmareb. The largest town in the region is Abudwak, which lies on the north-westernmost point of the region. Galguduud is bordered by Ethiopia, the Somali regions of Mudug; Hiran, Middle Shebelle (Shabeellaha Dhexe), and the Indian Ocean. The Hawiye ( so, Hawiye, ar, ุจูู ูููุฉ, it, Hauija) is the largest Somali clan family. Members of this clan traditionally inhabit central and southern Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia ( Somali, Harar, Oromia and Afar regions) and the North Eastern Province in Kenya. Habar Gidir
The Habar Gidir (Somali: Habar Gidir, Arabic: ูุจุฑ ุฌุฏูุฑ) is a major subclan of the Hawiye. The clan has produced many prominent Somali figures, including the first Prime Minister of Somalia Abdullahi Issa Mohamud and Somalia's fifth President Abdiqasim Salad Hassan. Overview The Habar Gidir are part of the Hiraab. The Hiraab consists of the Mudulood, Habar Gidir and Duduble. The Habar Gidir are also a sub-clan of the Hawiye. This gives the Habar Gidir immediate lineal ties with the other Hawiye sub-clans. The Hawiye descend from Irir Samaale who was one of the sons of Samaale.
