Duhallow Junior A Football Championship
The Duhallow Junior A Football Championship is the top footballing competition in the Duhallow division in Cork. It was first run after the formation of the Duhallow division in 1933. The Championship includes a group stage, therefore every team has at least 2 matches. The winners and runner up of this competition go on to compete in the Cork Junior A Football Championship. Cullen are the title-holders after defeating Kanturk by 4-16 to 1-02 in the 2022 championship final played in Boherbue. Format Group stage The 6 teams are divided into two groups of three. Over the course of the group stage, each team plays once against the others in the group, resulting in each team being guaranteed at least two games. Two points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. The teams are ranked in the group stage table by points gained, then scoring difference and then their head-to-head record. Newmarket, County Cork
Newmarket, historically known as Aghatrasna (), is a town in the barony of Duhallow, County Cork, Ireland. It is situated at the junction of the R576 and R578 regional roads. Newmarket is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency History The foundation of the town of Newmarket can be dated to the early 1600s, when King James I granted the lands which had formerly been held by the McAuliffe clan to the Aldworth family, with the right to hold a market there. The Aldworths remained at Newmarket until the 1920s: their family seat was Newmarket Court. The town was beginning to develop by 1620. Banteer
Banteer () is a village in north County Cork, Ireland located in the Civic Parish of Clonmeen in the Barony of Duhallow. It is near the town of Mallow. Lyre GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which takes its name from the nearby village of Lyre, County Cork, and is based in the village of Banteer in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland. Knocknagree (; the hill of the horse stud) is located in the north-west of County Cork in Ireland. Located on the R582 (Ballydesmond to Macroom) regional road it is 5 km north of Rathmore. It is approximately one mile from the Cork-Kerry border, and looks south towards the Blackwater River. Knocknagree GAA
Knocknagree GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Knocknagree in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland. Although approximately one mile from the border with Kerry, Knocknagree is officially in the parish of Rathmore with the majority of this parish in Kerry putting Knocknagree in front line when it comes to Cork-Kerry rivalry. The club plays Gaelic football in the Intermediate grade in Cork after winning the 2017 Cork County Junior Championship for the 3rd time defeating Erin's Own in the final.
