Boherbue
Boherbue (post office spelling) or Boherboy (Ordnance Survey spelling) () is a village in North West County Cork, Ireland. The village is in the civil parish of Kilmeen in the Barony of Duhallow, and spans the townlands of Gneeves, Laharan and Derrynatubbrid. Boherbue is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency. History The exact time period for the first permanent settlement in the area in not known. It has been suggested that the first inhabitants of the area were probably nomadic due to the amount of 'forts and bailes' that have are recorded in the area. Other ancient monuments in the area, as listed in the Record of Monuments and Places, include several ringforts and fulacht fiadh. The Cork Junior A Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior A Football Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the fifth tier overall in the entire Cork football championship system. The Cork Junior Championship was introduced in 1895 as a countywide competition for teams deemed not eligible for the senior grade or second-string senior teams. At the time of its creation it was the second tier of Cork football. Duhallow Junior A Football Championship
The Duhallow Junior A Football Championship is the top footballing competition in the Duhallow division in Cork. It was first run after the formation of the Duhallow division in 1933. The Championship includes a group stage, therefore every team has at least 2 matches. The winners and runner up of this competition go on to compete in the Cork Junior A Football Championship. Cullen are the title-holders after defeating Kanturk by 4-16 to 1-02 in the 2022 championship final played in Boherbue. Format Group stage The 6 teams are divided into two groups of three. Over the course of the group stage, each team plays once against the others in the group, resulting in each team being guaranteed at least two games. Two points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. The teams are ranked in the group stage table by points gained, then scoring difference and then their head-to-head record. 2020 Cork Junior A Football Championship
The 2020 Cork Junior A Football Championship was the 122nd staging of the Cork Junior A Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1895. The championship was suspended indefinitely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, but began on 19 June 2021 and ended on 7 August 2021. On 7 August 2021, Iveleary win the championship after a 3–11 to 1–06 win over Boherbue in the final at Mallow GAA Complex. It was their first championship title. Iveleary's Chris Óg Jones was the championship's top scorer with 6–17. Format change The championship had featured 16 teams, comprising the divisional champions and runners-up, since 2017. Because of time constraints as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic it was decided to revert to the old system of allowing only the divisional champions take part. Duhallow GAA
Duhallow GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the barony of Duhallow, County Cork, Ireland. This barony is situated in the northwest region of the county, and includes towns such as Kanturk, Millstreet, and Newmarket. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship. Since hurling is the weaker sport in the division, a divisional team has also participated in the Cork Minor Hurling Championship and Cork Under-21 Hurling Championship.
