Established in 1965, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry ( ar, غرفة تجارة وصناعة دبي, Ghurfet tijar'a wa sina'aht Dubayy), or simply the Dubai Chamber ( ar, غرفة دبي, Ghurfet Dubayy), is a public non-profit organization, and the stated purpose of the organization is to support the business community in Dubai and promote Dubai as an international business hub. The Chairman of Dubai Chamber is Majid Saif Al Ghurair. Hamad Buamim is the Chamber’s President & CEO. History The Dubai Chamber was established by a decree issued by the late Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in 1965. Dubai Chamber started its activities with 450 members and a 12-member board of directors. The number of members increased to over 150,000, from all economic sectors, in 2013. Deira (In Arabic: ديرة) is a historically significant district within the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates bordered by the Persian Gulf, Sharjah and Al Awir. It is located at the northern end of the Dubai Creek. History Deira is one of the oldest and most established areas of Dubai, its origins date back to the mid-1700s, it developed along the canal called Dubai Creek, this saltwater canal separates Deira from Bur Dubai. Saif Ahmad Al Ghurair (1924 – 2019) was an Emirati billionaire businessman, CEO of the Dubai-based Al-Ghurair Group, a large company in the UAE's real estate and manufacturing sectors.
