Italo-Albanian Catholic Church
The Italo-Albanian Catholic Church ( la, Ecclesia Catholica Italo-Albanica; it, Chiesa Cattolica Italo-Albanese; sq, Kisha Katolike-Bizantine Arbëreshë), Italo-Albanian Byzantine-Catholic Church or Italo-Albanian Church, is one of the 23 Eastern Catholic Churches which, together with the Latin Church, compose the Catholic Church. It is a particular church that is autonomous ''(sui juris)'', using the Byzantine Rite. The liturgical languages used therein are Koine Greek (the traditional language of the Eastern Churches) and Albanian (the native language of the community). Nilo Isvoroff
Nil Izvorov ( bg, Нил Изворов, August 23, 1823 – March 13, 1905) was a Bulgarian hierarch, activist of the Bulgarian National Revival and participant in the struggle for an independent Bulgarian Church. Isaias Papadopoulos
Bishop Isaias Papadopoulos (24 February 1855, Pyrgos, Elis, Pyrgos, Greece – 19 January 1932) was the first Exarch of the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church. Biography Born 24 February 1855 in Pyrgos, Papadopoulos was ordained an Orthodox priest in 1882. In 1883, he converted to Greek Catholicism beside a small group of Greek Orthodox in Thrace. In 1907, he had built the church in Thrace and was appointed vicar general for the Greek Catholics within the Apostolic Delegation of Constantinople. In 1911, he received episcopal consecration and was put in charge of the newly established ordinariate for Greek Byzantine Catholic Church, which later became an Greek Catholic Apostolic Exarchate of Istanbul, exarchate. On 28 June 1911, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Gratianopolis and was ordained bishop on 21 January 1912. Eparchy ( gr, ἐπαρχία, la, eparchía / ''overlordship'') is an ecclesiastical unit in Eastern Christianity, that is equivalent to a diocese in Western Christianity. Eparchy is governed by an ''eparch'', who is a bishop. Depending on the administrative structure of a specific Eastern Church, eparchy can belong to an ecclesiastical province (usually a metropolis), but it can also be exempt. Each eparchy is divided into parishes, in the same manner as a diocese in Western Churches. Michael Mirov
Archbishop Michael Mirov (1859 in Topuzlare, Ottoman Empire – 17 August 1923 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire) was a Bishop in the Bulgarian Greek Catholic Church. He was born into the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in the today Bulgarian village of Zornitsa, Burgas Province, then Topuzlare in the Ottoman Empire. More after Michael Mirov converted to Catholicism and graduated from Assumptionist high school in Edirne. Mirov studied theology and philosophy at the Major Seminary in Constantinople. On 6 January 1883 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Michael Petkov and was appointed to his native village. He opened a school for children and evening classes for adults. In 1888 began the construction of the new church, which was consecrated on 8 September 1891. In 1900 the Church of the Blessed Virgin added a 24-meter tower. Michael Petkov
Mihail Petkov ( bg, Михаил Петков) (24 October 1850 – 27 May 1921) was a Bulgarian Eastern Catholic priest, member of the Uniate movement in the Ottoman Empire. Biography Michael Petkov was born on October 24, 1850 in the city of Edirne and graduated in philosophical and theological education in Rome. In June 1873 he was ordained priest. Petkov was appointed by Bishop Raphael Popov a parish priest in the village Elya Gyunyu to Malgara where he remained about three years. Then go for treatment in Edirne, and later, in Istanbul as coadjutor of the Nil Izvorov. The reform of 1883 divided the Eastern Catholic eparchies in two.
