Domenico Tempio (1750–1821) was an Italian writer who mainly wrote in the Sicilian language Sicilian ( scn, sicilianu, link=no, ; it, siciliano) is a Romance language that is spoken on the island of Sicily and its satellite islands. A variant, ''Calabro-Sicilian'', is spoken in southern Calabria, where it is called Southern Calabro ... or dialect. During his lifetime, he was considered a major poet, and was much praised, but after his death his work was largely forgotten, until a reawakening of interest following the second world war. His poem ''La Caristia'' ("The famine"), describing a famine and rioting in Catania in 1797-98, is regarded as his major work. Catania

Francesco Strano
Francesco Strano (1766– September 1831) was an Italian scholar, priest, and librarian, known for his extensive cataloguing of the large book collection, donated by Bishop Salvatore Ventimiglia to the University of Catania in Sicily. Biography He was born in Aci-Catena near Catania in Sicily, he began by studying classics and humanities in Catania, where he was made a professor. He continued on to get a doctorate in Theology, and became a priest. In 1817, was made canon and superintendent of the Biblioteca Ventimigliana.
