Djakarta Artmosphere
Djakarta Artmosphere, or Djaksphere in short, is an annual concert organized by G Production to promote the collaborations between artists that are not limited to a specific generation, genre and/or other artistic creations. The organizers of this concert interpret the name Djakarta as a symbol of a space to accommodate millions of souls from diverse backgrounds, both geographically and culturally. Moreover, Djakarta has become a place that is no longer synonymous with a particular ethnicity, religion, or skin color. History Name Philosophy The selection of employing the old spelling of Jakarta (i.e. ''Djakarta'') in the concert's name aims to provide affirmation of the differences in the lifestyles of people in Jakarta over time. Hence, it intends to escape the impression that has been embedded in the word Jakarta as a dense, complicated, and exhausting city for its citizens. 2009 Sumatra Earthquakes
The first of the 2009 Sumatra earthquakes ( id, Gempa bumi Sumatra 2009) occurred on 30 September off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia with a moment magnitude of 7.6 at . The epicenter was west-northwest of Padang, West Sumatra, and southwest of Pekanbaru, Riau. Government and authorities confirmed 1,115 dead, 1,214 severely injured and 1,688 slightly injured. The most deaths occurred in the areas of Padang Pariaman (675), Padang (313), Agam (80) and Pariaman (37). In addition, around 135,000 houses were severely damaged, 65,000 houses were moderately damaged and 79,000 houses were slightly damaged. Gugun Blues Shelter
Gugun Blues Shelter (GBS), or Gugun Power Trio (for the American and European market), is an Indonesian blues band, formed in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2004. The current members are Gugun on guitar, Fajar Adi Nugroho on bass and Bowie on drums. They have released nine albums. Career The band formed in 2004 to play in blues bars in Jakarta. They have played in jazz clubs and festivals. They were influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Betty Davis, and Led Zeppelin. Initially, the name of the band was The Blues Bug, which was later changed to Blue Hand Gang, later known as Gugun and The Blues Bug, and eventually Gugun Blues Shelter or Gugun Power Trio (for the American and European market). Vina Dewi Sastaviyana, better known by her stage name Vina Panduwinata, is an Indonesian singer and songwriter. The song "Kumpul Bocah" is cited as her signature song. Fariz Rustam Munaf or better known as Fariz RM (born in Jakarta, Indonesia on 5 January 1959) is an Indonesian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of mixed ethnic Betawi, Dutch and Minangkabau descent. He is the uncle of Indonesian singer-songwriter, Sherina Munaf. Biography Fariz Rustam Munaf was born on 5 January 1959, in Jakarta. His mother, Anna Reijnenberg, was a piano teacher of Dutch-Betawi descent. He began studying music at age five, beginning with classical piano and later studying the blues.
