Dirk Uittenbogaard
Dirk Uittenbogaard (born 8 May 1990) is a Dutch representative rower. He is a European champion, an Olympic gold and bronze medallist and is the reigning world champion in the men's quad scull won at the 2019 World Rowing Championships. He won a bronze medal in the eight at the 2015 World Rowing Championships and competed in the men's eight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, winning a bronze medal. In the Dutch men's quad scull at Tokyo 2020 he won an Olympic gold medal and set a new world's best time for that event. International representative rowing Uittenbogaard's representative debut for The Netherlands came in 2006 when he was selected in a double scull to race at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Beijing. Ottensheim
Ottensheim is a municipality in the district of Urfahr-Umgebung in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. In July 2008 it hosted the World Rowing Championships, and it did so again in 2019. History First settlements in this area date from about 4000 BC. The first mention of the settlement in a document dates from 1148 AD. In 1228 AD, Ottensheim received the market right – as third town in Upper Austria, after Linz (1210) and Enns (city), Enns (1212). In 1527, the Habsburg-Monarch Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, Ferdinand I endowed the town and the castle to his chancellor Niklas Rabenhaupt von Suche, who expanded the castle. The 2018 World Rowing Championships were the World Rowing Championships held at the regatta course in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The event was held from 9 to 16 September. Events held were men and women's open class, lightweight class, and para-rowing. Prior FISA regattas that had been held in Plovdiv include the 1999 and 2012 World Rowing Junior Championships, and the 2011 European Rowing Championships. The 2018 World Rowing Championships were the first world rowing championships where the number of men’s and women’s events was equal. The world governing body made that decision in 2017.
