Diploid Love
''Diploid Love'' is the debut solo album by Brody Dalle, frontwoman of the Distillers and Spinnerette. The digital download was released on 28 April 2014 in the United States and 29 April in Canada, followed by the CD and vinyl record set on 19 May. The lead single, "Meet the Foetus/Oh the Joy", was streamed for free on SoundCloud on 9 February before being released to iTunes on 17 February. The album features collaborations from Garbage's Shirley Manson, The Strokes' Nick Valensi, Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age and Emily Kokal of Warpaint. Reception ''Diploid Love'' has received mostly positive reviews, with ''NME'' rating it 7 out of 10 while ''Rolling Stone'' rated it four out five stars. Brody Dalle
Brody Dalle (born Bree Joanna Alice Robinson; 1 January 1979) is an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. She began playing music in her adolescence and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18, where she founded the punk rock band The Distillers. The group released three albums before disbanding in 2006. She began another project, Spinnerette, which released an eponymous album in 2009. In 2014, she released ''Diploid Love'', her first album under her solo name. Early life Brody Dalle was born Bree Joanna Alice Robinson in Melbourne on 1 January 1979. She was raised in the Fitzroy and Northcote suburbs of Melbourne. Her father left their family when she was young. Her parents later married other people; through her father's second marriage, she is the older half-sister of actress Morgana Robinson. Queens of the Stone Age (commonly abbreviated QOTSA) is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme, who has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes. Mini Mansions are an American band founded by Zach Dawes, Tyler Parkford, and Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman. Mini Mansions' style has been compared to The Beatles, Elliott Smith, and Fountains of Wayne (though this comparison has drawn some criticism from Michael Shuman of the band). Jessy Greene
Jessy Greene is a violinist, cellist and vocalist from St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a former member of Geraldine Fibbers and The Jayhawks. Career A native of Sheffield in western Massachusetts, Jessy started playing the violin at the age of four. During high school she took a break from the instrument to play guitar in a rock band before deciding to play violin in more contemporary styles. Later, she got a degree from the UCLA in ethnomusicology, and joined the Peter Himmelman "Skin" tour, playing violin and singing backup. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review.
