"Different" is the seventh single by Japanese rock band Band-Maid, released in Japan on December 2, 2020, by Nippon Crown. The song was used as the opening theme song for the Log Horizon (season 3), third season of the anime ''Log Horizon''. Composition The lyrics for "Different" are about ''Log Horizon''. Critical reception ''Anime News Network'' said of the title track "This song just doesn't QUIT. The drums and the bass are insane from start to finish." Band-Maid (stylized as BAND-MAID® until 2016) is a Japanese rock band formed in 2013, consisting of singer Saiki Atsumi, guitarist/singer Miku Kobato, lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, bassist Misa, and drummer Akane Hirose. The band combines a rock sound with a maid image modeled on Japanese maid cafés. They are currently signed to Pony Canyon, and their most recent full-length album ''Unseen World'' was released in 2021. History Early years The band formed in July 2013. Guitarist/singer Miku Kobato, formerly an employee of a Japanese maid café, envisioned forming a band that juxtaposed the maid image with rock music. The Oricon Singles Chart is the Japanese music industry-standard singles popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Chart rankings are based on physical singles' sales. Until 2017, Oricon did not track download sales. In Japan, physical sales decreased sharply in the 2000s, while download sales hit three to four times the amount of single sales. In November 2017, Oricon introduced its first digital songs chart, separate from its main physical singles chart.
