Dick Sale
Richard Sale (4 October 1919 – 3 February 1987) was an English schoolmaster and cricketer who played for Warwickshire between 1939 and 1947 and for Derbyshire between 1949 and 1954. Sale was born in Atcham, Shropshire, the son of Richard Sale who had also played cricket for Derbyshire. An officer is a person who holds a position of authority as a member of an armed force or uniformed service. Independent Schools Football Association
Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) oversees football in independent schools in the United Kingdom. The ISFA is affiliated to the Football Association. The chairman is current Headmaster of Hampton School Kevin Knibbs. History Dick Sale, headmaster of Brentwood School and public school representative on the F.A. Council, formed the Public Schools Football Association and was its first chairman. The name was changed to the Independent Schools FA in 1986 under the chairmanship of Chris Saunders, headmaster of Eastbourne College and later Lancing College. In 2005, the Independent Schools Football Association for Girls division was formed. The current chairman is the third person to hold that post. Oswestry School
Oswestry School is an ancient public school (English independent day and boarding school), located in Oswestry, Shropshire, England. It was founded in 1407 as a 'free' school, being independent of the church. This gives it the distinction of being the second-oldest 'free' school in the country, between Winchester College (founded 1382) and Eton College (1440). Due to the fact that these Renaissance schools focused heavily on subjects such as Latin grammar, Oswestry School has long been known locally as 'The Grammar School' even during the period when Oswestry had modern state grammar schools. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Nottinghamshire. The club's limited overs team is called the Notts Outlaws. The county club was founded in 1841, although teams had played first-class cricket under the Nottinghamshire name since 1835. Derbyshire County Cricket Club In 1954
Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1954 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for eighty-four years. It was their fiftieth season in the County Championship and they won eleven matches in the County Championship to finish in third place. 1954 season Derbyshire played 28 games in the County Championship, one match against Scotland, and one against the touring Pakistanis. In a successful season, they won twelve first class matches altogether. Guy Willatt was in his fourth season as captain. Arnold Hamer was top scorer and Cliff Gladwin took most wickets. Two players made their debut in the season. Gerald Wyatt played one game and then appeared intermittently over the next few years. Charles Lee went on to score over 12,000 runs and became captain ten years later. John Eggar
John Drennan Eggar (1 December 1916 – 3 May 1983) was an English schoolmaster and first-class cricketer who played for Oxford University and Hampshire in 1938 and for Derbyshire from 1946 to 1954. Eggar was born in Nowshera, British India, the son of John Norman Eggar and his wife Emily Garret. He was educated in England at Winchester College and then went to Brasenose College, Oxford. He played cricket for Oxford University holding a stand in the drawn University match in 1938. He also played for Hampshire during the 1938 season. During the Second World War he served in the Rifle Brigade. After the war, Eggar became a master at Repton School and played for Derbyshire. Eggar with Guy Willatt, and Dick Sale formed a trio of Repton masters who played for the county. In the 1947 season he shared a record-breaking partnership of 349 with Charlie Elliott in the year when Derbyshire finished 5th. In the 1949 season he scored 218 in a match against Yorkshire.
